Mister Donut to launch Uji Matcha series from 27 February
When Mister Donut first arrived on our shores as a Jurong Point pop-up, the kiosk was met with snaking long queues. Since then, the popular Japanese doughnut chain has set up a brick-and-mortar in Bishan and shortly after, a cafe in Novena. Now, they’re back again with another piece of good news: Mister Donut is launching a Uji Matcha series soon!
This limited-time range comprises four doughnuts that are priced at $3 each. The Uji Matcha Pon De Ring and Uji Matcha Old Fashion will be rolled out from 27 February, with the former available till 2 June and the latter till 8 April. The Uji Matcha French and Uji Matcha Cream will both be available thereafter, from 9 April to 2 June.
These doughnuts are a collaboration with Morihan, a famous teahouse brand in Uji that has over 180 years of expertise in creating premium matcha.
You won’t go wrong with the Uji Matcha Pon De Ring, which features the brand’s famous mochi-like doughnut, coated in a rich matcha white chocolate ganache.
The soft and chewy dough is made with Uji matcha powder, so you get a faint tea fragrance with each bite!
You can also look forward to the Uji Matcha Old Fashion that’ll be launched on the same day as the Pon De Ring.
This cookie-esque doughnut comes with actual matcha powder folded into the dough, layered with bits of matcha-infused white chocolate for added crunch and sweetness.
Then there’s the Uji Matcha French, which stars an airy dough that’s topped with icing sugar and glazed with matcha white chocolate on one end. Slightly crispy on the outside, with a light crumb within, this snack also comes with matcha cream sandwiched in between.
Also available from 9 April is the Uji Matcha Cream, featuring a fluffy yeast donut generously piped with matcha cream.
The matcha-spiked cream is said to be on the sweeter side, as with the matcha-white chocolate coating seen in the other doughnuts. Those who prefer a lighter tea flavour would be pleased with this series!
The new Mister Donut Uji Matcha range will be available at their two stores. Make sure you visit earlier in the day in case there’s a queue!
