PSA: Popular Malaysian chain Oriental Kopi, which has outlets in Mid Valley Southkey JB and City Square JB, has an exciting launch. They’ve rolled out a new Taro Polo Bun (price TBD), available from now till 17 August 2025, across all their outlets in Malaysia!

Unfortunately, it seems like this limited-time bun is unavailable at Oriental Kopi Singapore at the moment. Orh nee fans in Singapore will have to cross the border to JB for their fix.

This sweet and savoury treat features a crispy sweet potato crust that’s infused with real purple sweet potato and baked in-house. It’s then slathered with a generous amount of house-made taro paste, prepared with Dajia taro from Taiwan for a deep and earthy flavour. The orh nee is said to be naturally sweet and fragrant, with a rich and creamy texture.

The snack is complete with thick slabs of salted butter, tucked into the warm yam filling right before it’s served. The combination of the crispy bun with the smooth taro paste and chilled butter is said to be divine.

While you’re there, you have to order Oriental Kopi’s Signature Nasi Lemak (RM9.90): fragrant coconut rice with sambal, peanuts, anchovies, a fried egg, and a crispy fried chicken thigh. Wash everything down with an Oriental Kopi (RM6.50) or Oriental Kopi C Cincau Ice (RM10.80).
