Raffles Place Food Guide: 18 Places For Affordable Wagyu Hamburg, Taiwan-Famous BBT And More

Best Raffles Place food places

The hustle and bustle of the CBD mostly happen during weekday lunch hours. Every weekday, streams of office ladies and gentlemen raid the area looking for grub to fuel them for the day ahead. From the quick and cheap to the payday splurge, here are the best Raffles Place food places that will cater to any budget.

1. Nong Geng Ji

This one’s for fans of Chinese food: Nong Geng Ji specialises in Hunan cuisine, which is best known for its punchy flavours. If it’s your first time here, we recommend getting the crowd-favourite Stir-Fried Pork with Abalone and Chilli ($27.90++). This dish features lots of Hunan green pepper, giving the pork and baby abalone a good kick of spice.

Seafood lovers can opt for the Signature Grass Fish Fillet with Chilli ($25.90++) instead, starring flaky sliced fish mixed with a pickled chilli sauce. A word of caution, though: this has a numbing spice similar to many Sichuan dishes, so order it only if you can tolerate the heat.

Dumpling lovers are in for a treat at Gyoza-San, a halal store selling gyoza and rice bento sets. There are eight flavours to choose from for the former, with prices ranging from $6.50 to $7.50.

Some popular picks include the Mala ($6.90) and Tom Yam Kung ($7.50); the latter comes with six pink dumplings packed with chicken and served alongside a side of tom yum sauce. FYI, all dumplings are handmade and pan-fried on a traditional Japanese cast iron pan here.

For something classic, get the Brown Sugar Pearl Black Tea Latte ($5.70), featuring a creamy milk base with a generous scoop of brown sugar syrup and pearl topping. But since you’re already there, we recommend trying something new: their Biscoff Black Tea ($5.60) is a Singapore-exclusive flavour that sees swirls of crunchy cookie butter mixed with black tea and fresh milk.

Their Signature Seafood Soup ($14) is loaded with liao, namely grouper slices, clams, pork, prawns, and squid.  During our visit, we found the broth slightly sweet with a rich umami taste, thanks to the eight hours of slow cooking.
