Sotong Game 2 is a Squid Game dinner pop-up in Dhoby Ghaut
Squid Game fans, you’ll want in on this. Sotong Game 2 is an immersive dinner pop-up in Dhoby Ghaut inspired by the trending Netflix series! Held at The Secret Haven, a cafe and event space in a former chapel, this exclusive event takes place from 7 February to 9 February 2025.
This Beautiful Cafe In A “Chapel” Has Affordable Brunch And Coffee In Dhoby Ghaut
You can choose between two seatings: 5pm to 7pm, and 8pm to 10pm. Currently, the first two dates are fully booked, but there are limited slots available for 9 February. The entry fee is $214++ for two people, and you can sign up online now.
Without revealing too much, here’s what you can expect at the event.
The fun begins as soon as you reach the venue, with life-sized set-ups, props, and actual guards adding to the atmosphere. And yes, “Front Man” will be there too, watching your every move.
Participants will be treated to a series of games, alternating between three courses that are inspired by actual food items seen on Season 2 of the show.
We appreciated the attention to detail—think Squid Game music and realistic decorations—and personalised features along the way, which were a pleasant surprise. For instance, our “mug shot” taken at the entrance was displayed on the screen during the games—just like in the show!
If you’re feeling competitive, all you need to do is get through all the games without “dying” and be the last one standing to take home $456 in cash.
If you’re here just for the experience, you won’t be disappointed with the food too.
The first course is not a lousy gimbap, but a flavourful rice roll inspired by nasi lemak. This fusion gimbap is packed with blue pea coconut rice, ayam goreng berempah, sambal, and achar. It’s also wrapped in foil and served with a fork, mirroring the scene in Episode 6 of Squid Game Season 2 where the players were given a fork in their rice roll.
Next up is the quintessential bento, which places the usual rice and kimchi with dry laksa.
This local favourite is zhnged up with premium seafood, including tiger prawns and green-lipped mussels. We particularly enjoyed the house-made otah!
At this point, you may be feeling thirsty. There’s a drinks menu for you to peruse, with exclusive concoctions such as Player 456 ($9.50) and Dalgona Coffee ($9.50). The former is a delicious mix of matcha with sea salt creme, while the latter comprises a double-shot latte with dalgona candy and salted caramel.
You also get a dessert to round up the meal in the form of a game, which we will not reveal at this point.
Although it’s a little pricey, we think this immersive dining pop-up is one fun activity that fans of the series will enjoy. If you’re keen on trying the experience, do make a booking stat as slots are running out!
