Swensen’s Unlimited buffet has a new cheese menu
If you’re a cheese enthusiast like me, you’ll be excited to hear that Swensen’s Unlimited is debuting a new cheese-focused menu at their three outlets: Geneo, Changi Airport T2, and VivoCity, with prices starting at $35++ and $15++ for weekday lunches for adults and children, respectively.
PSA: The New Big Cheese Menu applies to both the lunch and dinner buffets, meaning you can enjoy their cheesy additions anytime. Additionally, Swensen’s Unlimited is halal-certified, so Muslim patrons can also enjoy the experience.
We Revisited Swensen’s $35++ Buffet In Changi Airport—Does It Still Hold Up?
To start the meal, their new Cheesy Crabmeat Soup is a solid option. It is essentially a crab chowder, with generous amounts of shredded crab meat and a medley of root vegetables, including onions, carrots, and celery, simmering in a creamy soup.
The soup even had crab roe mixed in for a satisfying pop with every slurp, along with a prominent briny, crabby taste.
Their cheesy side dishes are also a highlight. The standout was the Cheesy Chicken, comprising grilled chicken breast pieces tossed in a light beurre blanc sauce and garnished with scallions and melted cheese.
The buffet lineup also includes Mozzarella Cheese Stick, Cheese Hot Dog, and Cheese Fries, paired with free-flow nacho cheese.
The menu features new pizzas: the Trio Cheese Pizza and Quattro Formaggi Hand-Stretched Pizza, which use a soft sourdough base. Both are slathered with tangy tomato sauce and topped with stretchy mozzarella. Though both were rather average, they did give some satisfying cheese pulls.
We also enjoyed the new Mac & Cheese Pasta: elbow-shaped pasta and button mushroom slices in a cheesy béchamel sauce, topped with shredded mozzarella, and baked till golden on top. Do expect some waiting time, as each dish is made to order.
The highlight of the meal was the Grana Padano cheese wheel. You can choose between four pastas: linguine, macaroni, spaghetti, or rigatoni, cooked in either carbonara or alfredo sauce, and topped with smoked duck, smoked salmon, chicken breast, or shrimp.
During our visit, we opted for two plates of spaghetti with smoked duck, one for each sauce. The pasta was tossed and flame-torched in the cheese wheel, which gave it a smoky, wok hei-like aroma.
And if all that isn’t enough cheese for you, we spotted a Cheese Fondue, best paired with slices of crusty baguette. Expect a silky, smooth cheddar fondue that perfectly coats the bread with every dip.
It’ll be a crime to leave a Swensen’s buffet without trying their iconic ice cream. Their new flavour, Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream, comprises a tart strawberry ice cream base with cheesecake chunks and strawberry slices.
