The Bread Boutiq bakery for cheap buns in Bishan
If you, like me, are constantly on the hunt for cheap and good bread, you’ve come to the right place. The Bread Boutiq is an under-the-radar bakery in Bishan selling buns from just $0.60, in an array of delicious and unique flavours.
16 Traditional Bakeries In Singapore For Old-School Banana Pie, Orh Nee Tarts And More
The neighbourhood bakery is tucked in Bishan North Shopping Mall, a short bus ride from Bishan MRT Station. Having lived in Bishan for many years, the family-run bakery has been a secret favourite of mine for awhile now.
Here you’ll find a plethora of buns sold for cheap, at just $3 for five pieces. Take your pick from classic flavours such as Butter Sugar Bun and Japanese Red Bean Bun, to more interesting finds of Nestum Cereal Chicken Floss Bun and Red Bean Banana Walnut Bun.
The buns work out to $0.60 a pop, so you can go ham without breaking the bank. Each piece is of a sizeable serving and baked fresh on the premises.
The Bread Boutiq also sells freshly baked pandan waffles for $1.40Â for the plain version. These waffles are thick and dense with a slight chew in the middle. They’ll surely fill you up and satisfy your sweet tooth!
Otherwise, opt for one topping ($1.90) or two ($2.40)Â if you’re feeling indulgent. You get to choose from classic spreads such as butter, blueberry, chocolate, and kaya. We highly recommend the slightly salty peanut butter filling, which comes with specks of crunchy peanut bits for texture.
If you’re in the mood for Western-style bakes, visit Bread & Butter by XY instead for cinnamon buns and truffle cheese rolls in the CBD. Or if you’re a fan of old-school orh nee, read our Whisking Bakes review for freshly baked yam-infused cakes and desserts.
Address:Â 282 Bishan Street 22, Singapore 570282
Opening hours: Daily 10am to 10pm
The Bread Boutiq is not a halal-certified eatery.
