Last year, we covered Tofu G, a dessert store at Mandarin Gallery that offered Singapore’s first tofu gelato. We enjoyed their offerings, which is why we’re happy to report that the Korean brand is opening its second outlet, this time in the basement of Takashimaya Shopping Centre.

True to its name, the gelato here is tofu-based, giving each scoop a distinct soybean flavour. It’s inspired by the traditional method of grinding soybeans with a millstone. While not fully dairy-free, the gelato is lighter and lower in fat than regular ice cream, making it a less sinful indulgence.

This new outpost has the same six flavours as the Mandarin Gallery one, with each scoop going for $8.

If you’re trying Tofu G for the first time, start with the Original Tofu. It has the dense, creamy texture of classic gelato, with subtle earthy and nutty notes from the soybeans. There’s also a High-Protein Tofu version of this flavour, made with non-GMO soybeans.

For something richer, go for the Black Sesame or Sweet Potato. Both are more fragrant and nut-forward than the Original Tofu. Those who enjoy the sweet, buttery taste of corn should try the Sweet Corn. There’s also a Pistachio option—its signature nuttiness is blended with soybeans for a slightly different take on the classic gelato flavour.
