Korean fried chicken gets a lot of love in Singapore, but Thai fried chicken is no less delicious too. Hidden in the Sengkang neighbourhood is Tuk Tuk Gai Thai Fried Chicken, a hawker stall that serves unpretentious, no-frills Thai-style fried chicken and hearty Thai fare at affordable prices.

The stall is owned by Thai-Chinese zi char restaurant Yaowarat Seafood, so you know the food is legit here.

Most mains are priced at a wallet-friendly $5.90, with options including Coconut Rice with Wings, Chicken Rice with Garlic Pork, and Thai Green Curry with Rice and Eggs. The Tom Yum Fried Rice ($5.90) also comes with their signature Thai fried chicken wings!

Regulars return for their value-for-money portions and flavourful meats. The chicken wings, for instance, are well-marinated in Thai spices and herbs such as coriander and lemongrass, so they’re extra fragrant. They’re deep-fried till crispy on the outside, and juicy and tender on the inside. Thereafter, the chicken wings are finished with fried shallots for even more crunch.
