Una Una unagi at VivoCity
VivoCity is chock-full of dining options, but here’s one more for the list: Una Una. The affordable unagi histumabushi chain has just opened their third outlet in the mega mall, following their restaurants in Suntec City and Bugis. Today marks their soft opening.
If you don’t know, Una Una is renowned for being the more wallet-friendly alternative to Man Man. This unagi specialist first opened in Singapore in 2019, and continues to serve up charcoal-grilled unagi dons to hungry diners.
Only premium quality eels are used here. Each is grilled fresh, and basted while on the grill with a secret marinade. The finished fillet is then served glazed in a smoky teriyaki sauce.
Diners can expect their bestselling, value-for-money Unagi Hitsumabushi ($12.80++) to be available at Una Una VivoCity, but the new outlet will also have eight exclusive dishes that are all worth travelling down for.
First, there’s an Unagi Ikura Don, where grilled eel is served with dollops of briny ikura pearls, on vinegared sushi rice.
For lovers of gyudon, try the Unagi Kagoshima Beef Jyu, starring unagi and melt-in-your-mouth Kagoshima ribeye. Kagoshima beef is reputed for being extra-tender, and has won multiple awards for its flavour.
Also, experience the full flavour of Hokkaido pork with the Unagi Hokkaido Pork Histumabushi, where fatty eel is accompanied by juicy pork belly, kissed by the charcoal grill.
Prices of the new menu dishes are to be determined.
As for decor, the eatery is styled like an izakaya, with light wood accents and Japanese art on the walls. Both standard tables and booth seats are available.
