Downtown East Will Have New Vending Machine With Old-School Cakes Soon

Uncle Lee will launch a cake vending machine at Downtown East

Good news for Uncle Lee Confectionery fans: the popular old-school bakery will launch a new cake vending machine at Downtown East on 1 October 2025! Do note that the launch date might be subject to changes; keep your eyes peeled on the brand’s Instagram page for the latest updates.

Earlier this month, the local bakery rolled out a cake vending machine at Suntec City. Previously, these vending machines were launched at Woodleigh Village and Bukit Batok West.

The ordering process is simple. Browse the selection via the touchscreen on the machine; there are four cake flavours: kaya, peanut, chocolate, and rainbow chocolate. Each cake is six inches in diameter, which yields approximately five to six slices.

After making payment, a delivery tray will move upwards to retrieve your cake box, before gently lowering it to the collection area.

My personal favourite is the Kaya Pandan Cake ($22.10), where fluffy pandan sponge layers are paired with a fragrant kaya pudding. The cake has a nostalgic flavour I love, and it’s not too sweet either.

The Peanut Butter Sponge Cake ($15.80) is a close second. This cake comprises airy vanilla sponge cake covered in buttercream and copious amounts of crushed peanuts.

The cakes are replenished daily at 11am every day. Based on our previous experience, they were sold out by 12pm, so we recommend visiting earlier to avoid getting disappointed.

If you love orh nee, head to the bakery’s Suntec City vending machine to get a taste of their Nostalgic Yam Cake ($28). You get fluffy vanilla cake layered with an earthy taro cream with actual bits of yam.
