If you’re looking for an affordable dining option around town, here’s one more place to add to the list: Khoon Coffeehouse Express in Singapore Management University, or SMU. The kiosk, located in the School of Economics/Social Sciences building, has a small menu of bites and drinks, including, most notably, their take on the trendy Yaowarat-style buns.

Nothing on the menu here is priced above $10. The most expensive item, the Truffle Cream Chicken Sausage Baked Rice Set, costs just $6.80, and that includes a drink! What’s more, staff and students of SMU are entitled to a 10% discount, with an additional 5% off for each school on specific days of the week.

Their most popular item by far, however, is lu rou fan, or Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice Set ($6), with the noodle alternative being well-loved too.
