It’s a sad day when one of your favourite food stalls closes down. For fans of Uggli Muffins, a popular muffin stall with over 50 years of history, that day is sadly approaching. After 10 October 2023, the Uggli Muffins outlets in Toa Payoh and Jalan Besar will cease operations.

This, however, may not be a permanent closure. According to this Facebook post, the stall will remain in limbo “until a successor is found”, and it remains to be seen whether one will emerge. Fans of the stall can only hope that second-generation owner Anton Tan finds a suitable heir sooner rather than later.

So while you still can, now’s the time to drop by one of Uggli Muffins’ two outlets to get your hands on its excellent muffins. A piece of the famous Baby Muffins ranges from $1.50 to $1.80, and the flavours on offer varies by the day. Last we checked, there’s an option to buy 10 pieces, with two free muffins added on, for $15.

Some mainstay flavours that patrons frequently rave about include Oreo Cookies, Banana and Walnut, and Blueberry. What distinguishes these muffins from run-off-the-mill ones is their deep brown, crispy surface, which is achieved through skilful baking and a secret recipe. Other traits that mark Uggli Muffins’ bakes are the irregular shapes, robust flavour profile, and a lavish, tantalising sweetness.
Make sure you drop by Uggli Muffins before it’s gone—and hopefully not for good.
