PSA: You can now get your banana cake fix at City Square Mall! Hiap Joo Bakery & Biscuit Factory, a cult-favourite bakery in JB, has launched a new cake vending machine at the Farrer Park mall.

Situated on the B2 level near Kim Guan Goldsmith & Jeweller, this new vending machine offers a convenient way for Singaporean fans to enjoy the bakery’s signature treat without crossing the border.

For the uninitiated, Hiap Joo is renowned for their wood-fired banana cakes and old-school buns. Over at their JB bakery, a box of their Banana Cake costs RM13, which comes with 10 slices. This works out to almost S$4.

The City Square vending machine dispenses boxes containing the same number of slices, priced at $8.60 per box—almost double the price of the JB location. We’re not sure if the size of each slice is the same, so we’ll leave you to judge whether it’s worth the price hike.

To maintain freshness, the cakes are delivered daily from the OG Johor Bahru bakery via refrigerated trucks, ensuring the quality and taste are preserved. Restocking occurs twice daily, at 11:30 am and 4:30 pm, with each batch typically selling out within an hour.
