A new contender is about to step into Singapore’s Japanese food scene. Sushidan, an acclaimed sushiya from Tokyo, is set to open at Raffles City on 17 December 2025, with this first overseas outpost offering sushi from as low as $1.99++!

At such a price point, most Singaporean’s minds would gravitate towards cheap sushi chains such as Sushi Express. But the quality here is set to be elevated, for the brand is led by Chef Hiroyuki Sato—one of the youngest sushi chefs to ever garner a Michelin star.
The Edomae-style sushi served here uses top-grade ingredients, such as the famed red sushi rice that uses premium akazu (red vinegar) and Japanese rice from Akita Prefecture. Their seafood is also flown from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market, ensuring peak freshness.
FYI: Edomae-style sushi uses a traditional method that focuses on curing, marinating, and aging fish to preserve it and enhance its flavour.

The restaurant’s offerings are set to follow their Tokyo branch. A la carte prices start at $1.99++, which, according to 8days, include options such as Salmon, Hamachi (Yellowtail), Unagi, and Mekajiki (swordfish), among others.

You’ll also find handrolls starting from $3.99++ each. If their Tokyo outlet is anything to go by, expect simple favourites including Kappa Maki and Umeshiso Maki at this price, with more premium options such as Salmon Maki, Negitoro Maki, and Ikura Maki costing more.

Affordable omakase sets will also be available, beginning with the Sushi Omakase Set ($19.90++) that highlights six seasonal specials.
