Itacho Sushi has closed four remaining outlets in Singapore

It seems the recent spate of F&B closures isn’t slowing anytime soon, as popular Hong Kong chain Itacho Sushi has closed down all its remaining outlets in Singapore, after 17 years of operation. The news is especially disappointing to fans who’ve come to love their wallet-friendly Japanese food, from sushi and sashimi to rice bowls and soba.

While no announcement of the closure was made by Itacho Sushi, the news quickly spread online after Google Maps listed their four outlets at Ion Orchard, Bugis Junction, Square 2, and The Star Vista as “Permanently closed”.

It appears that they won’t be making a comeback anytime soon, as their local TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook pages appear to have been taken down. A check on Bizfile also shows that the business has recently been marked as “Gazetted To Be Struck Off”.

There has been much chatter online about the fond memories that their food has brought to many Singaporeans over the years.

A standout here was their signature Roasted Salmon with Tenkasu Roll (price TBD), featuring maki with sweet tamago and torched salmon, topped with rich mentaiko mayo and crispy fried tempura flakes.

There was also the Baked Scallop & Spicy Salmon Mayo & Egg with Rice ($13.50++), an all-time favourite starring rice, a runny egg, and six scallops, baked on a hotplate with oozy cheese and spicy mayo.

Another popular item was the Salmon Oyako Don ($16.30++), featuring fresh salmon slices and roe on fluffy Japanese rice, served with a salad, miso soup, and chawanmushi.
While we won’t be able to have another taste of these tasty dishes anymore, thankfully, there are still plenty of other Japanese restaurants in Singapore to satisfy your sushi cravings.
