If you want a Din Tai Fung-quality meal without its price tag, this hawker stall is worth checking out. Helmed by former Din Tai Fung chef Robin Lee, Three Bowls serves up East Malaysian fare at Whampoa Makan Place.
Paying homage to his roots, Chef Robin offers Sabah-style kolo mee, less common in Singapore than the Sarawak-style. The key difference lies in the darker, savoury soy sauce base, which gives Sabah-style noodles a richer, more robust flavour compared to the lighter, shallot oil-based Sarawak version.

Signature dishes are the Pork Chop Kolo Mee ($6.90) and Pork Chop Mee Soup ($6.90), both featuring a Din Tai Fung-style fried pork chop.

Alternatively, you can keep it simple with the Home Taste Kolo Mee ($4.50) and Home Taste Mee Soup ($4.50), served with slices of char siew.
Other kolo mee options include Chicken Chop Kolo Mee ($6.50), Fish Roll Fish Ball Mee ($4), and Wanton Kolo Mee ($4), available soup or dry.
If you opt for dry noodles, you can also customise your sauce. Choose from three options: White, a savoury shallot oil sauce; Black, a dark soy sauce with a hint of sweetness; or Red, a sweet char siew oil sauce.

Another specialty of Three Bowls is the Homemade Knife-Cut Noodles ($6.90), featuring chef Robin’s hand-pulled noodles—said to have a chewy texture and topped with fish balls and meat balls.
While the store is relatively new, it’s already built a solid fanbase with long queues every day. If you love the iconic Ding Tai Fung pork chop, then you need to give this a go.
