Big Mouth Bakehouse has fresh bakes at Wisma Geylang Serai
We were devastated when IG-famous Fluff Bakery closed their doors last year. So you could imagine our excitement when we heard about their comeback at Wisma Geylang Serai. Now rebranded as Big Mouth Bakehouse, the new cafe serves up a rotating menu of delicious Muslim-friendly bakes, alongside a selection of freshly brewed coffee and cooling drinks.
IG-Famous Fluff Bakery To Close, Get Their OG Cupcakes And Bakes Before It’s Too Late
While the OG Fluff Bakery was best known for their signature cupcakes, these are no longer part of the menu. Instead, expect a refreshed line–up of freshly baked goods from savoury sandwiches to sweet desserts.
FYI, everything here is priced nett, so you won’t have to worry about paying extra for service charge or GST!
If you’re a fan of Thai food, we recommend trying their Thai Beef Salad Foccacia Sandwich ($12.50), which comes loaded with beef slices, fresh greens, and a side of house-made Thai green chilli sauce.
Every bite was packed with flavour from the huge portion of meat. On its own, the generous amount of meat made the sandwich a tad cloying after a while, but dipping it in the spicy and fragrant chilli sauce did just the trick to cut through the richness.
As recommended by the staff, we also got the Tempeh Balado with Kemangi & Binga Kantan ($9): a crunchy and fluffy open focaccia sandwich topped with house-made tempeh balado.
At first, we were quite intimidated by all the red chillies, expecting something fiery enough to burn our tongues off—but turns out all that worrying was for nothing. The crunchy tempeh was slathered in a mild sambal, zhnged up by a delicious blend of ginger torch and lemon basil for added fragrance.
The Laksa Mayo Heirloom Tomato Flatbread ($7) was another standout, featuring soft, chewy flatbread, topped with oozy mozzarella and a juicy tomato, then finished with cilantro and a drizzle of light and creamy laksa sauce.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, don’t miss out on their puffy Matcha Strawberry Doughnut ($4.50 for one, $16 for four).
Each doughnut comes with a velvety blend of earthy matcha cream and tangy-sweet strawberry jam, before being dusted with a generous amount of powdered sugar.
Before leaving, wash everything down with one of their refreshing drinks, including the Bueno Latte ($8), blending strong espresso with milk and a nutty-sweet chocolate hazelnut base.
Big Mouth Bakery is located on the first floor of Wisma Geylang Serai, a 10-minute walk from Paya Lebar MRT Station.
