We aren’t short of aesthetic cafes in Singapore and right across the border, in Johor Bahru. Each time, every new cafe entering the scene has really upped the ante. Another fresh name to add to your cafe hopping list is Cafe Limonci, which has just opened its doors at Oxley Bizhub in Tai Seng.

This coffee and dessert spot is hidden on the ground floor of the industrial building, an eight-minute walk from Tai Seng MRT Station. Look out for the sign that reads “Cafe Limonci”, along with a brick red entrance that stands out.

Go up the stairs and you’ll immediately be wowed by the impressive space; it’s incredibly spacious with tall ceilings, alongside cosy nooks and tasteful furniture that set the stage.

The cafe is well spread out with plenty of space to walk around. What’s more, they’re work-friendly with a countertop seating area that’s facing the windows—ideal those who don’t want to get distracted. Otherwise, the sofa seats are great for group settings, too.

cafe limonci drinks

Drinks-wise, we were pleased with our Iced Matcha Yuzu Ade ($6), a refreshing concoction of freshly whisked matcha with yuzu syrup, topped with sparkling water.

There’s also a comforting Dirty Chai ($7)—chai latte with espresso—that’s the perfect balance of sweet and creamy, with fragrant notes of cinnamon.

cafe limonci waffles

Those with a sweet tooth will enjoy the Limonci Zesty Waffles ($8), freshly made on-site.

The vanilla-and-citrus waffles are light and crispy, pairing well with your choice of gelato. Gelato is priced at $4.50 per scoop and $5.50 for a premium flavour, but you can take $1 off your order when you get a scoop with your waffle.

We opted for the Shizuoka Genmaicha gelato, which costs $4.50 on its own for a single scoop. Get this flavour if you love roasted rice tea; the earthy notes contrasted well with the sweet gelato base. We also got the Yuzu Hojicha Lavender ($5.50) gelato, a complex combination of roasted green tea with tangy yuzu and floral lavender.

Currently, Cafe Limonci is in its soft launch phase, where only desserts are available. You can expect a bigger menu with savoury fare when they officially open!

Another popular cafe to visit is Cake Spade, a famous cake shop that recently reopened at Orchid Hotel, Tanjong Pagar. Otherwise, for something more old-school, read our Big Bakery feature, where we interviewed the founders of a 30-year-old pie shop!
