This Outram Park Cafe Has Square Doughnuts In Flavours Such As Burnt Butter Honey

17th November 2023

Caffe Pralet has square doughnuts and sourdough sandwiches

The opening of Mister Donut, a famous Japanese mochi doughnut brand, has shown us that these sweet-savoury treats have many of us in a chokehold. Don’t forget The Fat Kid Bakery with their trendy and modern bomboloni, as well as Keng Wah Sung’s nostalgic sugar doughnuts. Caffe Pralet is here to ride the wave with something unique to offer—square doughnuts instead of the ring-shaped, or round ones we’re familiar with.

Currently, their menu sees four different flavours of square doughnuts: Burnt Butter Honey Glaze ($3.80), Pandan Gula Melaka ($3.80), Cinnamon Sugar ($3.40), and Lemon Cremeux ($3.80). Out of the four, their Burnt Butter Honey Glaze is a favourite among patrons, and many have professed their love for the sweet-salty combination of honey glaze, and a pinch of sea salt on top.

For a sweet treat with a local twist, the Pandan Gula Melaka is an ideal choice. This flavour was introduced in September 2023, starring a palm sugar glaze, and a smooth and creamy kaya filling within.

Do note that their square doughnut flavours may change from time to time. Prior to this current selection, there were the Cookie Butter Raspberry Jelly and Lemon Basil Curd flavours too!

Caffe Pralet also specialises in sourdough sandwiches: these come in eight flavours at the moment. Give their Spam Bam ($13) a shot for a loaded sandwich comprising paprika egg mayo salad, Spam, jalapenos, and baby spinach stuffed in multigrain sourdough.

Else, there’s the Salmon + Hijiki ($15.50) featuring a unique garlic chye poh sourdough brimming with smoked salmon, hijiki salad, dill cream, onion, baby spinach, and pickled cucumber. There are also meat-free alternatives including the likes of Tofu Sesame King ($12), and Magic Mushrooms ($14.50).
