Explore the City Food Hunt at CapitaLand City Malls
The annual Singapore Food Festival starts this weekend, but if you haven’t signed up for any of the events, here’s something you can go to without having to register! As part of this year’s Singapore Food Festival, which runs from 27 August to 12 September, CapitaLand City Malls have joined the festivities with a slew of tasty, locally inspired treats on the Explore The City Food Hunt━a food trail that spans five CapitaLand properties.
If you didn’t know, the Singapore Food Festival is a celebration of Singapore’s diverse culinary heritage and food scene. In honour of this, participating F&B tenants at Bugis Town, Clarke Quay, Funan, Plaza Singapura, and Raffles City have launched new, limited edition noms, all of which have been given a local twist. There will also be workshops where you can learn to make ang ku kueh and more!

For starters, Ramen Champion at Bugis+ debuts a Salted Egg Tendon ($16.80+) that’s also available as a set at $19.80+. The set, valued at $24.30+, includes a soft drink and your choice of edamame, cold tofu, karaage, chawanmushi, or gyoza.

Pop over to 5 Senses Bistro at Funan for a spin on a local salad. They’re serving up an Octopus Rojak that’s now priced at $9.90++, down from the usual price of $14.90++. Where we typically see dried cuttlefish in the dish, this luxed up version swaps it out for the meatier octopus.

At Plaza Singapura, head to Greendot to indulge in the Vegan Afternoon Tea Set for One. For $12.90, you’ll get a house-made, hot Nutty Stylo Mylo with Biscoff Biscuit with your choice of any fun-sized cake that’s usually priced from $7.90. Discover that vegan doesn’t mean boring when you try the Taro Creme Cake, or even a Kaya Toast Tiramisu Cake!

Another meat-free deal to consider is the Plant-Based Trio Hor Fun & Honey Boatlily Drink Set ($9) at Shi Hui Yuan in Kopitiam. This Michelin Bib Gourmand awardee is famed for their collagen-rich braising sauce, which is made with more than 30 different herbs. Here’s a fun fact about the boatlily plant━it’s believed to have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties!

Otherwise, treat yourself to seafood-in-a-bag at Fremantle Seafood Market in Clarke Quay with 20% off the experience when you order the Laksa Crab-in-a-Bag ($71.20++), or Laksa Lobster-in-a-Bag ($79.20++). A smashing bowl of laksa is characterised by robust prawn stock and lots of hei bee; just imagine how all that crab and lobster will zhng it up!

This one goes out to all my fellow snackers: myEureka has two Singapore Food Festival Special Local Flavours Bundles, retailing at $15 each. Choose from a bundle comprising the bestselling Chilli Crab, and Salted Egg flavours, or get the crowd-favourite Spicy Cuttlefish with an all new Nasi Lemak flavour! These tubes of popcorn are typically priced from $19.20, so you’re enjoying almost 60% in savings when you purchase these bundles.

If you’ve had all the tasty grub, and are looking for hands-on experiences, here’s your chance to learn the art of ang ku kueh-making from Ji Xiang Ang Ku Kueh at Bugis Street. They made waves just recently with their Rainbow Ang Ku Kueh. Prices for this workshop start at $22 per person.
There are more than 40 participating F&B outlets across CapitaLand City Malls with various new dishes, deals, and workshops that you can enjoy, so head down anytime starting this weekend to give them a try!
Receive a limited edition Singapore Food Festival Tote Bag when you collect three receipts from any of the F&B outlets participating in the Singapore Food Festival before 12 September. Each receipt must include a Singapore Food Festival-exclusive deal or item. This is only valid for the first 250 redemptions at each of the Customer Service Counters at Bugis Junction, Funan, Plaza Singapura and Raffles City.
If you’re a CapitaStar member, you’ll also receive five times the usual STAR$ with a minimum spend of $5 at any of the F&B outlets in participating malls! At Plaza Singapura and Raffles City, you’ll also be entitled to a $10 eCapitaVoucher when you spend more than $120 in a single receipt at any F&B outlet.
