There are plenty of steak restaurants to visit in Singapore. For instance, you may have heard of CUT by Wolfgang Puck and Bedrock Bar & Grill. These options are great, but if you are looking for a halal-friendly option, check out Muslim-owned Cherry & Oak, a relatively new steakhouse near Farrer Park MRT Station.

As its name suggests, Cherry & Oak slow-smokes their meat with cherry wood for a distinctive, smoky aroma. They are best known for their fragrant Beef Brisket ($23+), which is said to have a good meat-to-fat ratio. It’s served with tangy mango salad, and sweet barbecue sauce.

The star of the show here at Cherry & Oak is the Wagyu Tomahawk ($208+), a 1.3kg cut that’s good for four. The premium meat is infused with sweet, fragrant, and smoky notes from the cherry wood and rosemary. When smoked, the meat remains tender, while sporting an even char on the outside.

For something unique, go for their Rainbow Sausages ($16+). These colourful sausages come in four different flavours: beetroot, original, spinach and curry. A crowd-favourite would be the curry, which has a spicy kick. It’s served with a pepper dip, and mango salad on the side.

Pasta and seafood lovers can opt for the Nusantara Aglio Olio ($24+). This dish sees linguine sauteed with wild mushrooms, bird’s eye chilli, and garlic-infused olive oil. It’s finished with a smoked king prawn.

Cherry & Oak also has all-day breakfast options. If you can only have one dish, go for the Forest Berries Baby Dutch Pancakes ($16+), accompanied by mascarpone and fresh berries. Unlike most pancakes, this is baked instead of fried on a pan, giving it a texture that is said to be similar to Yorkshire pudding.
