1. No Horse Run Gelato

Northsiders will be thrilled to know that there’s a dessert place nearby: No Horse Run Gelato located in Yishun. For a classic twist to the traditional waffle, get their Pandan Gula Melaka Waffle ($6.50), which comes drizzled with your choice of housemade sauce—Classic Maple Syrup, Childhood Milo, House-Made Jam, or Caramelised Cookies. They’re known for their locally inspired ice creams, including Muah Chee ($5).

2. Scoop & Sketch

This one’s for the Easties: Scoop & Sketch is a dessert cafe in Aljunied that opens till 5am on some days and 12am on most, and what’s cool about them is that they double as a tattoo parlour on the second floor. If you’re here just for the desserts, get a single scoop of gelato ($5) in various flavours, including the popular Grape Yakult, Pistachio, and Salted Butterscotch. Of course, you can pair the gelato with their Waffle ($7), which we enjoyed thanks to the crispy exterior and fluffy batter within.

Here’s one for the Westies: Burnt Cones offers an array of desserts and brunch food till late. Pick your choice of cone ($1)—light, medium or dark—to go with your gelato. The light, which is the least burnt, has a buttery undertone, the medium is your regular waffle cone, and the dark has a slight bitterness to it. For a roasted, nutty flavour, get their Pistachio ice cream, or go for the refreshing Blood Orange Thyme sorbet! Their Buttermilk Waffles ($7), said to be fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, is another noteworthy item on the menu.
