Little Nonya’s Cookies has Peranakan food and kueh at Fortune Centre

I have a soft spot for Nyonya kueh as it was one of my favourite go-to snacks growing up. If you love kueh as much as I do, bookmark Little Nonya’s Cookies, a hidden gem eatery at Fortune Centre with handmade kueh that’s made with family recipes from over 40 years ago.

The no-frills eatery is tucked away on Level 4 of Fortune Centre, an easy five-minute walk from Bencoolen MRT Station. They’ve been around since 2007, and are most known for their Chinese New Year goodies, which can sell up to 40,000 bottles each season.

Most of their kueh is priced at just $1 per serving, including Tapioca Kueh, 9 Layer Kueh, Kueh Salat, Ang Ku Kueh, and Kueh Kosui: soft and wobbly kueh made with gula melaka, pandan, and tapioca flour, covered in coconut shavings.

Besides kueh, the eatery also offers a small range of vegetarian-friendly Peranakan food, prepared with recipes dating from 40 years ago. Highlights include Veg Nonya Buah Keluak Rice ($7), Veg Braised Pork Rice Set ($6.50), and Veg Nonya Curry Chap Chye ($5.50).
