Most of us know Yung Raja for his musical contributions to the Singapore scene, but he’s recently been expanding into other areas besides music as well. Maha Co is his first foray into the food industry, with fusion thosai tacos inspired by his mother.

Together with his business partner Quan Ong, owner of Gorilla Press Co, they opened Maha Co’s doors to the public earlier this year in February 2022, with the aim of creating fusion food that stayed true to his Indian heritage. What they came up with: thosai tacos, using his mother’s homemade thosai recipe.

maha co guacamole with salsa dosa

As of now, there are six thosai flavours for you to choose from, with a new breakfast quesadilla already in the works. The Guacamole with Salsa ($5.90+), features the beloved creamy avocado dip, as well as refreshing diced tomatoes and red onions.

Each thosai taco also comes with a side of tortilla chips and vegetable curry, which customers can dip their thosai taco into for a bit of a kick.

maha co crispy chicken with cucumber yogurt dosa

For something a little more filling, go for their Crispy Chicken with Cucumber Yogurt ($6.50+). As the name suggests, this thosai taco holds chunks of crispy chicken and crunchy diced cucumber in a Greek yoghurt concoction.

maha co crispy pork with mexican slaw thosai taco

Another one of their more popular thosai tacos is the Crispy Pork with Mexican Slaw ($7.50+). The pork belly and crackling skin comes with extra cabbage that gives each bite a refreshing crunch. The thicker-than-usual slice of tasty pork might feel like too much for some, so the refreshing purple cabbage cuts through that, creating a balanced yet delicious blend of flavours.

maha co nachos with curry chicken

Besides thosai tacos, Maha Co also does a number of sides, such as a Nachos with Curry Chicken ($11.90+). Laden with rich, thick curry and chunks of chicken, this dish is the epitome of the marriage between Mexican and Indian.

maha co raja masala chai

As for drinks, Maha Co does both non-alcoholic and alcoholic ones. If you’re one of those who enjoy the spiciness of chai, you’ll be sure to enjoy the Raja Masala Chai ($3.20+), available hot or iced.

maha co craft beers

Maha Co seeks to place an emphasis on locally crafted beers, so you’ll be able to find homegrown brands such as Brewlander and Lion Brewery Co here, from $9.90+.

With this comes a ‘buy 2 get 1 free’ deal on all craft beers, which you can enjoy with their Taco Tuesday ‘buy 1 get 1 free’ deal on all thosai tacos, from 2pm to 6pm.

maha co ambience

The cafe interior is decorated with colourful Mexican and Bollywood posters that Yung Raja himself has plastered on the walls. Accompanied by rhythmic hip-hop and rap beats, Maha Co brims with life and personality.
