New restaurants in Singapore this September
September is packed with exciting happenings, including the annual Mid-Autumn Festival and the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix. The new month also sees the launch of famous restaurants and cool cafes, alongside new menus! Here, we’ve gathered a list of 15 new restaurants to check out this September so you don’t have to.
Table of Contents
1. Daily Chicken
Daily Chicken is the sister restaurant of the popular Korean fried chicken and craft beer chain Daily Beer. At this new Bugis restaurant, you can look forward to Daily Beer’s signature fried chicken, alongside outlet-exclusive mains and snacks.
We recommend the Cup Gangjeong Red with Rice Cake & Pop Dumplings ($12++), starring fried chicken chunks coated in a sweet-spicy sauce, paired with your choice of sweet potato, potato wedges, or dumplings. As it’s served in a takeaway cup, it’s great for snacking on the go, too. Another outlet-exclusive item worth trying is the Crispy Pastry Hotteok ($14++), paired with honey and whipped cream. There’s even a Singapore-inspired Kaya Butter Hotteok ($12++) on the menu if you’d like something different!

2. Movida
MoVida Singapore is a popular tapas restaurant that hails from Melbourne, Australia. They’ve recently opened their first restaurant in Singapore, at Raffles City, so fans don’t have to take a flight down under just to taste their food.
At this Singapore outpost, you can expect their signature tapas, alongside a Paella De Señorito ($75++) that’s loaded with perfectly cooked smoked prawns, calamari, and barramundi chunks. During our visit last month, we were impressed with their desserts too. There’s the Churros Con Chocolate ($12++), where crispy churros are served with a side of rich dark chocolate sauce, and the classic Flan ($12++): melt-in-the-mouth Spanish cream caramel with spiced pastries.

3. Acqua e Farina
If you work in the CBD, check out Acqua e Farina, a new Italian spot along Keong Saik Road. The popular restaurant, which has another outlet at Rail Mall, is run by Chef Antonio Manetto from Naples and Chef Roberto Galbiati from Milan. They’ve just set up shop in Chinatown, offering patrons a mix of Southern and Northern Italian flavours!
We tried and loved the Montanara ($34++), a twice-baked pizza featuring a 36-hour dough that’s hand-pressed, and then deep-fried till golden. After which, the pie is topped with mozzarella, a Naples-style tomato sauce studded with Wagyu bits, house-made pork sausage, Italian spicy salami paste, and creamy burrata, before it’s thrown into the oven to bake. The result is a crispy-on-the-outside pizza that’s non-greasy and packed with flavour. You can also get a small range of handmade pastas here, including the Tagliatelle al Cacao con Gamberetti e Nduja ($36++), where house-made cocoa tagliatelle is paired with fresh prawns, portobello mushrooms, and a creamy, slightly spicy sauce.

4. Casa Vostra
For legit wood-fired pizzas in town, look no further than Casa Vostra, another new kid on the Raffles City block. They’ve got a wide range of pizzas, grouped into three flavour categories: Newpolitan Red, Newpolitan White, and Doublecrunch. The former features a tomato-based sauce made from high-quality Italian San Marzano tomatoes; the Newpolitan White swaps the tomato sauce for cheese; the Doublecrunch is somewhat like a hybrid between a pizza and a sandwich.
Those who love truffles should try the Tartufo e Funghi ($28++), topped with fresh black truffle shavings, mushrooms, and truffle. Complementing the piquant truffle flavour are two cheeses: Fior di latte AKA mozzarella, and Taleggio, which boasts a stronger aroma.

5. Eden Restaurant

Dine at Eden Restaurant, a glasshouse-like restaurant located at Pullman Singapore. It has an abundance of foliage adorning its walls, and large open windows overlooking the Orchard landscape, allowing natural light to stream in. Expect a modern spin on classic Asian-Singaporean flavours here; they have a special weekday set lunch that runs from 12pm to 4pm, well-priced from $38++ for two courses.

There’s also a $48++ set that sees three separate courses: The Beginning which includes a starter salad or soup, The Main Journey which gets you a main course, and lastly, the Sweet Memories, where you get a dessert. Many diners seem to enjoy the Pan-Fried Black Cod, which consists of pan-fried cod in a vivid-green thunder tea broth. Alternatively, if you prefer meat over seafood, go for the Grilled Kurobuta Pork Tenderloin, which comes with hoisin jus. Aside from the exceptional eats, they have a stunning selection of cocktails, bubbles, or wines that you can add to the set for $15++.

6. SOS Chicken
SOS Chicken is a new restaurant at Tampines 1 specialising in charcoal-grilled chicken. Here, each bird is brined for over 12 hours with 16 fresh herbs and spices, then slow-roasted over charcoal. The result is uber juicy and savoury meat with a touch of smokiness.
Try it in the form of the Half Chicken ($13.50++) or Whole Chicken ($25.50++). While the chicken is flavourful on its own, there’s also the option of pairing it with the restaurant’s 18 house-made sauces, priced at $2++ each. Our favourites were the Mushroom Cream, Charred Ginger Scallion, and Mojo Verde: a Spanish-inspired sauce loaded with fresh herbs and spices.

7. Open Farm Community
Michelin-recommended Open Farm Community (OFC) has launched a new menu featuring fresh greens and fruits harvested from the restaurant’s on-site farm. Kickstart your meal with appetisers such as Stracciatella ($28++)—stracciatella cheese paired with house-cured duck prosciutto—and Red Snapper Ceviche ($24++), comprising locally caught snapper paired with tangy tamarillos.
For mains, try their Thai Flower Crab ($38++) and Hay-Smoked Chicken ($65++). The latter stars a whole chicken served alongside baked potatoes and an umami laksa chimichurri sauce. Then, wrap up your meal with the Deconstructed Tiramisu ($19++): Kahlua-soaked sponge, mascarpone espuma, and coffee-infused jelly. Otherwise, if you’re looking to splurge, opt for the Harvest Omakase (from $98++), a five-course dinner featuring the restaurant’s most popular dishes. These can be complemented by three glasses of wine for an additional $45++.

Mensho Tokyo is another new addition to Raffles City. In addition to winning awards such as Tokyo Ramen Of The Year and Ramen Walker Grand Prix, the famous ramen brand’s San Francisco outlet was featured in the Michelin Guide, so you know they’re legit.
Their Signature Toripaitan ($28++) is a must-try. Each bowl comes with house-made wavy wheat noodles joined by rich, creamy chicken soup, alongside A5 Wagyu, smoked pork, duck, and chicken chashu. The dish is complete with truffle sauce, king oyster mushrooms, and an ajimata egg. Those in the mood to splurge can also consider trying the A5 Wagyu Shoyu Aburasoba Ramen ($41++), a dry noodle dish drenched in a sauce made from organic Kioke wood barrel-aged shoyu.

9. Uoharu
Izakaya fans, take note: Uoharu has opened in Singapore, at Marina Bay’s IOI Central Boulevard Towers! The super popular izakaya hails from Tokyo, Japan, and has two other outposts in Hong Kong with a waiting time of around a month. Seafood lovers can try their Homemade Snow Crab Croquette Rice ($29.80++), where crispy snow crab croquettes are mixed into rice and umami-packed ikura.
Another must-order is the U.S. Beef Short Rib with Bone ($32.80++). The meat is grilled over charcoal till medium rare, so you get tender beef slices finished with a smoky aroma. The restaurant offers a great range of craft sakes too, which are best paired with the food!

10. Alice Boulangerie
Alice Boulangerie is back bigger and better after going through a revamp. Their new, cosy space is accented with wooden tones, giving the cafe a warm and inviting feel. There’s even a display of bakes at the entrance for those who want to try their popular pastries and desserts!
For starters, get the Otak Prawn Croquette ($19++), featuring a generous amount of minced halibut and tiger prawn mixed with Asian spices, and then deep-fried in breadcrumbs. This crispy snack pairs well with their new Laksa Paella ($46++), which is essentially laksa-flavoured rice with quail eggs and grilled seafood. Round off your meal with the gorgeous Forest ($23++), a plated dessert starring a “log” made from dark chocolate, adorned with almond chantilly cream, cherry compote, and pistachio praline. If you love anything chocolate-flavoured, you’ll surely enjoy this.

11. Cha Chaan Teng
Just seven minutes away by foot from Bendemeer MRT Station is Cha Chaan Teng, a Hong Kong-inspired cafe that transforms into a vibey bar when the sun sets. Better yet, they are open till 12am every day except Tuesday.
For those working in the area like us, we recommend getting their lunch set for $13.90++ from 11am to 3pm. This consists of a main, a side, and a drink, so we decided on a bowl of their Wan Tan Min ($8.90++), along with two pieces of Daan Tat ($4.90++), and a hot Teh ($2.90++). The wonton mee was more filling than it looked as there was a good variety of toppings: minced char siew, fried pork dumplings, and bok choy. As for the egg tart, you’ll enjoy the ones served here if you’re on Team Pastry Crust—the egg tart is creamy and flaky with just the right amount of sweetness in the custard.

12. Hai Ge Ji Hainanese Chicken Rice
There aren’t many halal chicken rice restaurants in Singapore, so we were intrigued when we found out about Hai Ge Ji Hainanese Chicken Rice, a newly opened eatery in Bugis that’s also Muslim-friendly.
We recommend their Single Chicken Rice Set ($11.80+), which comes with steamed or roasted chicken, vegetables of your choice, and a bowl of fragrant chicken rice. Complete your meal with some of their signature sides, including the Braised Beef Gua Bao Buns ($12.40+), which features steamed mantou with Chinese-style braised beef. Alternatively, order the Crispy Chicken Skin with Spicy Balacan ($6+) to share, where deep-fried chicken skin is paired with a piquant sambal mayo dip.

You can also get your caffeine fix in the form of the Hor Ka Sai ($4.50++), a signature drink pairing Milo and kopi. They also serve hearty mains including Herbal Braised Pork Belly ($12.90++) AKA lu rou fan, paired with Taiwanese sausage.
