Ollella To Open In Bukit Timah, Bringing Famous Kueh To The West

Ollella kueh Cluny Court

I love kueh, so few treats get me as excited as a glistening slab of kueh salat, or the honeycombed lattices of bika ambon. Ollella has been one of my go-to places to nab quality kueh since their early days in 2016.

Run by two Indonesian sisters preserving family recipe, the brand has since expanded their online storefront to a takeaway eatery along Race Course Road, and now, they’ve announced their sophomore opening in Cluny Court at Bukit Timah. A representative from the brand told Eatbook that the kiosk will open next week, pending some approvals.

If you’ve yet to try Ollella, let me count the reasons you should. Their specialty kueh recipes all have decades-long legacies, handed down from the founders’ grandmother. Ollella first became very popular for their kueh lapis legit, aka the dense, multi-layered cake we all know and love. Ollella’s bestseller is their Signature Spiced Lapis (from $21.80), hand-made with premium Dutch butter and a blend of cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. They also have a Butter Non-Spiced Lapis (from $21.80), a Prune Rum Lapis (from $24.80), and a very modern Nutella Lapis ($21.80).

The kueh menu has grown to encompass familiar classics, with prices starting from just $1.50. Get their sticky, pandan-rich Kueh Salat, or their Kueh Lapis Sagu, the multi-coloured kueh lapis, made with coconut milk and pandan extract.

Another must is the popular Kueh Dadar ($2), with its paper-thin crepe skin made with pure pandan juice wrapped around juicy grated coconut doused in gula melaka.

Savoury kueh is available too, in the form of lemper—sticky glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk, sandwiching a meat filling. Ollella has Rendang Ayam ($2.50), Ebi ($2.20), and Ayam ($2) options.

Apart from kueh, they also sell Indonesian-style mains, from Beef Bakso with Sambal Tofu ($10), to Lotong Sayur ($6), and Nasi Lemak (from $3.50). All this will be available at the Cluny Court outlet, with the exception of their XL Chicken Cutlet Nasi Lemak.

We will update this article when the brand has confirmed their new address and opening hours.
