I’m a huge fan of Nyonya kueh. Kueh salat, kueh dadar, ondeh ondeh—you name it, I love it. That’s why I was beyond stoked to stumble upon online kueh store One Sweet Bite earlier this year while scrolling through Instagram.

One look at their feed and you’ll see row after row of colourful kueh in the form of platters—perfect for those who want a variety—and kueh-inspired cakes such as the Kueh Salat Cake 8″ ($58). The real star of the show, however, is the Salat Indulgence 8″ ($80), a showstopping eight-inch kueh salat round piled with bright and colourful ondeh ondeh.
The kueh salat features coconut-infused sticky rice as the base, with iconic streaks of blue pea flower dye peeking through, layered with a smooth pandan custard. The handmade ondeh ondeh balls are soft and chewy, with a molten gula melaka filling that oozes out with one bite—exactly how every ondeh ondeh should be.

If you’re not a big kueh salat fan, try the Toothful Indulgence 7″ ($70), which features a lapis sagu base instead of kueh salat. A modern interpretation of the classic kueh lapis, this rendition sees a soft, chewy and fragrant lapis cake topped with orbs of lava-centred ondeh ondeh.

For those who want a taste of everything, the Assortment Box (from $40) is the way to go. You get to pick five of your favourite kueh from a list of options, including Kueh Bingka Ubi, Jackfruit Sticky Bites and Kueh Salat. There’s also Ayam Lemper if you’re up for something savoury; this kueh features tom yum chicken floss in between two layers of glutinous rice.
