Rainbow Kueh Lapis Mooncakes
Here’s something to spice up the fray of mooncake stories on your feed: local bakery, The Lapis Place, has created the hybrid we never knew we needed with their stunning rainbow Kueh Lapis Mooncakes.
Located in the basement of Plaza Singapura, The Lapis Place is known for its unique takes on the traditional Malay layered cake, kueh lapis. For the coming Mid-Autumn Festival, the geniuses at the bakery have combined the soft, chewy delights of snowskin with the kueh lapis we know and love to create a standout treat. Wrapped in pastel snowskin with a Paddle Pop swirl, these rainbow Kueh Lapis Mooncakes are cut to reveal multi-coloured layers.
Available at $88 for a box of four, The Lapis Place also offers other flavours for its Kueh Lapis Mooncakes alongside the rainbow. These are pandan, early grey and cempedak.
Also new to The Lapis Place’s Mid-Autumn Festival range are the equally exciting and sinful Truffle Mooncakes (from $39). Taking the more traditional route, these contain proper mooncake-style fillings inside the snowskin, instead of kueh lapis.

Still, instead of bean paste or lotus, the Truffle Mooncakes come in fun flavours like taro, lychee martini, peach, Mao Shan Wang durian, Cookies ‘N’ Cream and Ferrero Rocher. The last two are filled with an Oreo truffle and a Ferreo Rocher chocolate respectively. Prices start from $39 for a box of two Truffle Mooncakes.
If you must appease more traditional-minded parents or grandparents, The Lapis Place also has baked mooncakes with white lotus filling, in both egg yolk and non-egg yolk variants.
