Surrey Hills Grocer opens rainforest-themed cafe at VivoCity
There’s a new kid on the VivoCity block: Surrey Hills Grocer, a rainforest-themed cafe on Level 3! This marks the homegrown brand’s fifth outlet—their other locations include Holland Village and ION Orchard.

The new outlet is inspired by Surrey Hills Grocer’s founder Gek’s experiences in Australia. Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by life-sized animatronic features, including kangaroos, giraffes, and giraffes in “motion”. Lush greenery and natural wood tones take centre stage in the spacious dining area, fitted with intimate booth seats and communal tables to suit all occasions.

There’s also a grocer section stocked with over 100 Australian brands, from popular Melbourne roastery ST. ALi coffee beans to pantry staples such as Chotto Motto Crispy Chili Oil and Chunky Dave’s Chunky Peanut Butter.
Start your meal with the Triple Truffle Fries ($16++), starring thick-cut fries with truffle powder, truffle oil, parmesan shavings, and house-made truffle mayo.
The Clam Aqua Pazza ($24++) is another popular sharing starter. You get a generous pot of clams, garlic, and mixed herbs, in a white wine-infused sauce. Focaccia slices are served on the side to mop up all that umami-packed gravy.
If you’re looking for another side to share, we recommend their house-made pizzas, which are a new addition to the Surrey Hills menu. The Pulled Pork Hollandaise ($12++) and Margherita ($10++) are excellent picks.
For mains, you won’t go wrong with the unique Mee Siam Cappelini ($22++), where thin pasta noodles are paired with a spicy and tangy mee siam sauce, topped with deep-fried squid and calamansi.
Otherwise, the “Hokkien Mee” ($26++)Â is equally delicious. This fusion pasta dish stars Malfadine tossed in umami-packed prawn bisque and crispy lard, crowded with grilled prawns, kale, and ikura.
If you’re craving something even heartier, you won’t go wrong with the Miso Charshu ($26++): Bucatini pasta with miso cream, topped with shoyu and yuzu-glazed pork belly that’s charred on the outside, finished with an egg on top for added richness.
End things on a sweet note with their signature Sticky Date Pudding ($16++), featuring a moist date sponge cake soaked in salted butterscotch sauce, complete with almond crumble and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
You can head to the glass display by the counter to select from a range of freshly baked pastries and cakes, too.
