Famous Warabimochi Kamakura to open at Takashimaya Orchard
It’s been barely a month since Warabimochi Kamakura opened in Orchard, and they’re back again with another launch: Takashimaya Shopping Centre. This marks the famous Japanese chain’s third outlet in Singapore; their first store officially opened in Holland Village just two months ago, in February 2024.

Our colleague spotted the hoarding of the upcoming Taka store at Basement 2, next to Innisfree. There’s no telling when the shop will open its doors, but here’s hoping it’s within the month!
In case you’re unaware, Warabimochi Kamakura’s specialty is warabimochi, a traditional Japanese mochi dessert that’s usually coated in kinako, AKA soybean powder.
The popular chain, which has over 50 outlets across Japan, offers warabimochi that’s made with 100% bracken starch for that light and silky mouthfeel. Here, the kinako powder is roasted at a higher temperature for a richer depth of flavour.
You can get it in a 2-Piece Cup ($3.90) or with Ice Cream ($5.90), which comes with kuromitsu syrup AKA Okinawan black sugar syrup. Else, get their 5-Piece Box ($7.90) or 10-Piece Box ($14.90), great for gifting!
You can enjoy your warabimochi in the form of a beverage, too. Try their Tenku no Hojicha (from $5.90)Â or Coffee Milk (from $5.90)Â for a caffeinated pick-me-up.
Otherwise, their Strawberry Milk (from $7.90) is extremely popular; this creamy drink stars Hokkaido Yotsuba milk, fresh whipped cream, and freeze-dried Japanese strawberries.
