Yishun MRT Has A Giant Pasar Malam With Korean-Style Waffles, Durian Taiyaki And More

Yishun MRT Food Street pasar malam runs till 7 July 2024

Calling all Northies and pasar malam lovers, it is time to head down to Yishun MRT Station. It’s recently become home to a giant Food Street night market, which promises a whopping total of 90 food kiosks, including plenty of Muslim-friendly stalls.

We all know the best part of a pasar malam is the food, which makes this Yishun opening all the more worth going down to visit. According to a Facebook post by the organisers, the street food fair will run from now till 7 July 2024, 12pm to 10pm daily.

Start your feast with a Korean Style Cream Waffle at Kwaffle, available in flavours including Biscoff, Oreo, and Nutella Banana. Each half-portion costs $6.50 while a full portion goes for $9.80. This dessert stars a crispy waffle topped with a generous amount of whipped cream and your choice of topping.

The kiosk also sells refreshing mocktails such as Knocking on Lemon’s Door ($7): freshly squeezed lemon juice, dried lemon peel, demerara syrup, and Sprite.

You can also get ZR‘s Apam Balik in an assortment of sweet flavours: think Corn + Peanut ($6), Biscoff ($5), and even Nutella + Cheese. These fluffy and buttery pancakes are freshly made on-site, to order.

For affordable taiyaki AKA Japanese fish-shaped pancakes, make a pitstop at Ahae Taiyaki. The Muslim-friendly stall offers these sweet pancakes in a slew of flavours such as Kaya, Durian, and Hokkaido Milk. Each piece costs $3, but you can get any three for just $7.

We spotted an old-school tutu kueh stall too, selling made-to-order steamed rice cakes stuffed with your choice of filling: Chocolate, Peanut, Coconut, or Gula Melaka. Each box of five pieces costs $3.50.

If you’re still in the mood for sweet treats, Popup Show has you covered with their range of Dutch Mini Pancakes, topped with Hazelnut Praline ($5), Double Chocolate Strawberry ($6) and more.

Else, zhng up your meal with some savoury snacks from Balls & Booze, where you’ll find sharing-sized platters such as Tom Yum Fishballs and Takoyaki Fishballs, priced at $6 for a small portion and $11 for large.

There’s even a kiosk selling Fried Ice Cream ($3) that looks similar to Frozen Heart, a famous Taiwanese fried ice cream chain that recently opened in Jewel. Choose from flavours such as Chocolate, Vanilla, Yam, Strawberry, and Durian.

With so many stalls to pick from, Yishun Food Street is definitely the place to feast if you’re swinging by the area anytime from now till 7 July 2024. Here’s us crossing fingers we get to see a pasar malam of a similar scale appear in other neighbourhoods too.
