Yishun MRT Has A Giant Pasar Malam With Taiwanese Popiah Ice Cream, $1.50 Lok Lok And More

Yishun MRT Food Street pasar malam runs till 3 September 2023

Calling all Northies and pasar malam lovers, it is time to head down to Yishun MRT Station. It’s recently become home to a giant Food Street night market, which promises a staggering amount of food options, including plenty of Muslim-friendly stalls.

We all know the best part of a pasar malam is the food, which makes this Yishun opening all the more worth going down to visit. According to a Facebook post by the organisers, the street food fair will run from now till 3 September 2023, 12pm to 10pm daily.  You can expect a good mix of traditional pasar malam fare and trendy eats at this pasar malam!

A highlight this year is the Tawain Peanut Ice Cream Popiah from the Peanut Crunchy Candy Rolls with Ice Cream stall.

You get to choose from three flavours: Vanilla, Yam, and Coconut. Each roll is priced at $4, and comes with creamy ice cream, crushed peanuts, and coriander leaves for a refreshing taste.

Those who love apam balik should head to Rishqy’s Corner, where you’ll find the Malay-style pancakes in an assortment of flavours. Trendy options include Red Velvet ($13) and Ondeh Ondeh ($9), though you can also get classic flavours such as Kacang + Jagung ($7) AKA peanut and corn.

Then there are the quintessential Sweet Potato Balls ($5) too, which are perfect for snacking on the go while you hunt for other bites.

Those who want something more substantial can check out Gyoza House for their Pan-Fried or Crispy Gyoza, available in flavours such as Pork Chives and Chicken Veg. These dumplings are priced at $8 per serving.

Then, zhng up your meal with some cheap meat and veggie skewers that are cooked to order, priced at $1.50 and $1.80 per piece depending on your selection.

There’s even a kiosk selling Fried Ice Cream ($3) that looks similar to Frozen Heart, a famous Taiwanese fried ice cream chain that recently opened in Jewel. Choose from five flavours: Chocolate, Vanilla, Yam, Strawberry, and Durian.

With so many stalls to pick from, Yishun Food Street is definitely the place to feast if you’re swinging by the area anytime from now till 3 September 2023. Here’s us crossing fingers we get to see a pasar malam of a similar scale appear in other neighbourhoods too.
