3 Meals a Day has famous salted egg chicken rice at Sim Lim Square

If you walk around the second floor of the electronics shopping centre Sim Lim Square, you should come across a stall that always manages to gather a crowd during peak hours, regardless of the day of the week. That stall is 3 Meals a Day, known for its amazing salted egg chicken rice.

This isn’t the only 3 Meals a Day outlet in the country—there’s one in Hougang that has also received rave reviews—but we’ll focus on the Sim Lim outlet as it’s the more popular one.

A plate of the stall’s renowned Salted Egg Chicken w/ Rice will set you back $5.90. What you get is a pile of chicken bits fried till crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and of course, drenched in a creamy salted egg yolk sauce. The sauce is said to be excellent, with a highly savoury taste and hints of spiciness. All of that is joined by a serving of rice, a fried sunny-side up egg, and some keropok.

There’s a wide variety of other chicken and rice dishes here, including the Cheezy Butter Chicken w/ Rice ($6.50), Cereal Chicken w/ Rice ($6.50), and Thai Style Chicken w/ Rice ($5.90).
If you prefer pork, you can opt for dishes such as Cereal Pork Ribs w/ Rice ($7) and Salted Egg Pork Ribs w/ Rice ($6.50). Meanwhile, fans of fish can get the Salted Egg Fish w/ Rice ($5.90), Butter Fish w/ Rice ($5.90) and more.
