I’m grateful that we have access to authentic Korean food in Singapore—from Korea’s top fried chicken chain BHC Chicken, to the highly coveted Tonshou restaurant from Busan. The latest addition to this list, the Michelin-approved Gwanghwamun Mijin, is one to visit if you’re a big fan of soba. Originally located in downtown Seoul, the popular restaurant has been serving Korean cold buckwheat noodles since 1952.

Gwanghwamun Mijin is slated to open at Far East Square by August 2025. As the eatery will be located in the CBD near Raffles Place and Telok Ayer MRT Stations, we expect them to draw large crowds as soon as they open.

If you enjoy slurping on naengmyeon on hot days, their specialty naeng memilguksu, AKA cold buckwheat soba noodles, is sure to be your new favourite. The noodles, which are made from scratch in-house, boast a bouncy texture.

Pair this with the chilled dipping sauce it comes with, which is flavourful yet refreshing. Each set also comes with grated daikon, green onions, seasoned seaweed, and wasabi to dress the dish up with. The eatery has been serving these noodles for over 70 years, so you know it has to be a hit with the locals.

Customers also wax lyrical about the restaurant’s Donkatsu or Korean-style pork cutlet and Bossam, which are razor-thin slices of boiled pork. The menu for the Singapore outlet has yet to be set in stone, but these are some of the popular menu items we are expecting to see here!
