Although they say that money can’t make you as hot as Harry Styles, it can still buy you some good sushi—I know that might sound like a long shot, but well, it’s better than nothing.
In Singapore, whether you’re in the mood for creamy mayo-filled warship sushi or fresh sashimi-topped bites, there are plenty of affordable options to choose from. Here at Sakae Sushi, sushi is priced anywhere from $1.80++ for a piece of torch-seared Salmon, to $5.90++ for an Unagi Nigiri Sushi. Their gunkan sushi is also relatively affordable, where you’ll get two pieces of Smoked Duck Gunkan Sushi, Smoked Duck Gunkan Sushi, or Tuna Mayo Gunkan Sushi for just $3.60++.

7. Itacho Sushi

Itacho Sushi is a Hong Kong brand with more than 40 outlets in Hong Kong, Singapore, and even Japan. The ingredients that they use are specially selected by their dedicated team of procurement staff, and exported to the restaurants directly from Tokyo, Hokkaido, and Kyushu. While not the cheapest per piece as compared to the other sushi chains on this list, prices here are still relatively low. One piece of Salmon or Squid sushi will set you back only $2++, while their popular Roasted Mackerel costs $3.30++.Â

8. Ima Sushi
Located in the basement of SMU‘s Li Ka Shing Library, Ima Sushi offers an extensive range of affordable sushi options. Their menu features various types of sushi, such as Salmon Sushi ($2.16/$2.40), Maguro Sushi ($2.16/$2.40), and Spicy Salmon Gunkan ($2.52/$2.80), with each piece of salmon sushi costing just slightly more than $1. For those looking for something more filling, they also have mini dons priced under $10, including the Mini Salmon Don, Mini Bara Chirashi Don, and Mini Aburi Salmon Mentai Don.

The Don Don Donki empire is rapidly expanding in Singapore, and it looks like the ‘Don Don Don, Donki’ jingle is going to permanently live in my head. If you haven’t heard yet, their Jurong Point outlet features a made–to–order sushi kiosk called Sen Sen Sushi. Here, they use a wide selection of fresh fish and seafood, including fresh uni. Some of their popular nigiri items include A4 Wagyu Beef Sukiyaki ($6), Fresh Salmon Mentaiko ($2), and O-toro and Uni ($4). All of their sushi is prepared to order, so you can enjoy it at its freshest.

Sushi Plus offers economical sushi, with prices starting from just $1.50++. We highly recommend trying the Triple Flavour Salmon Selection ($5++), which features aburi salmon with three delicious toppings: Caramel, Cheese, and Mentaiko. If you prefer something lighter on the palate, the Cheese Masago with Tamagoyaki ($1.50++ per piece) is an excellent choice. This sushi features capelin roe and a soft, fluffy omelette, creating a pleasant contrast of textures. Additionally, the omelette’s pudding-like sweetness and savoury cheese masago complement each other perfectly.
