Heading to Queenstown, you might be distracted by the new Margaret Market, but venture into the old HDB estates there and you’ll find gems such as Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee and the latest opening, Goldies—a hole-in-the-wall, takeaway-only cafe.

The zen decor of the space is reminiscent of an Aesop store, with the hollowed-out shelves holding jars of 100% Pure Raw Australian Honey by The Rare Honey Company—all the bakes at Goldies, and some of the drinks, are made with honey.

There’s Honey Oat Latte ($9), alongside your standard Black ($5) and Espresso ($4); otherwise, you could go for a White ($6). They’re all said to be brewed with beans from Common Man Coffee Roasters.

There’s only one non-coffee option on the menu: Wildflower Honey Lemon (price TBA), prepared with wildflower honey, which lends the drink a fruity sweetness.

Pair your drink with one of their bakes, including Jarrah Honey & Seasalt Croissant ($6), where The Rare Honey Company’s Jarrah Honey is drizzled on the laminated pastry.

Another option you could consider is Warm Corn Bread with Creamed Honey ($7), a house-made treat that you could enjoy right away on one of the four stools in the small cafe.

If you’re a bomboloni fan, check out Goldies’ Salted Honey Whip & Peanut Butter Donut ($6). Rather than PB&J, this take on the Italian stuffed doughnut sees peanut butter paired with a salted honey whipped cream centre for some serious decadence.

There’s even a block of real honeycomb, said to be from Australia, in the bakes display! While it’s not clear if this honey is used in any of their bakes or drinks, it’s definitely something for the ‘gram.

Just a short walk away from Stirling Road is Mei Ling Market & Food Centre, where we reviewed Xin Lu Fishball Noodle for their XL fishballs and old-school noodles, and Lao Jie Fang, which has Michelin-approved Hong Kong-style beef brisket noodles.
