Get your fix of old-school cakes and pastries at halal bakery Happy Oven‘s new outlet in Hougang. The popular family-run bakery, which first opened in Beo Crescent, is most known for their wide selection of freshly baked cakes in traditional flavours.

There’s their best-selling Ondeh Ondeh Roll, which goes for just $1.40 a pop. This cake features a strikingly green pandan-spiked sponge with gula melaka-soaked coconut shavings and buttercream in the middle, topped with fresh coconut flakes on top.

Alternatively, go for the Gula Melaka Roll or the Pandan Kaya Cake, affordably priced at $1.40 and $1 respectively.

Another classic flavour worth trying is the Chendol Cake ($1.40), an iteration of everyone’s favourite icy dessert. You get soft pandan sponge with a thick and rich gula melaka centre, topped with a creamy coconut layer with red beans and chendol jelly.
