Nylon Coffee is a popular cafe in Everton Park

Specialty coffee spots are everywhere, but Nylon Coffee is one of the OG brands, having been around since 2012. Simply search “best coffee in Singapore” and this homegrown roastery pops up on multiple Reddit threads, proving its long-standing reputation among coffee enthusiasts.

40 Best Coffee Cafes In Singapore, Including Local Roasters That Sell Coffee Beans

Despite being a stalwart in the coffee scene, Nylon Coffee has chosen to focus on its single, humble under-HDB cafe in Everton, rather than expanding to multiple locations.

The menu is intentionally lean, focusing on the usual espresso-based suspects, but what sets Nylon Coffee apart is their in-house roasting. Beans are roasted in a dedicated space known as “The Mallaird Project” twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, ensuring freshness in every cup.

It was a scorching afternoon, so we started with an Iced Long Black ($5.50) to cool off. There were two espresso options: Peru La Palma and Honduras El Puente. We went for the latter, a fully washed coffee with fruity notes of dried peach and raisins, rounded out with subtle hints of chocolate and nuts.

The iced Long Black was incredibly smooth with a touch of acidity, and I loved that it was served in a frozen glass, keeping the coffee perfectly chilled from the first sip to the last.

For something ultra-refreshing, try the Summer Cola ($8.50), a seasonal special on the menu. This espresso tonic, prepared with Peru La Palma beans, is bright and zingy, with citrus notes that shine through the sparkling beverage.

Nylon Coffee rotates its filter coffee selection, offering three options at a time.

We went for the Ethiopia Buku Abel Filter Brew ($8.50), made from hand-picked coffee cherries sun-dried for roughly 20 days with the fruit intact, giving it a naturally jammy profile. The brew starts off fruity and berry-like, then develops into a light, clean tea-like finish that’s both refreshing and balanced.

For white coffee, there are three sizes available, each with a single espresso shot: Small (3oz) for $5.30, Medium (5oz) for $5.30, and Large (7oz) for $5.60. I usually like my coffee bold and strong—my go-to is a cortado or piccolo—so the flat white here was a little mild for my taste. Next time, I’ll be adding an extra shot for just $0.50!

Ambience at Nylon Coffee

Nylon Coffee sits on the ground floor of an HDB block in Everton Park, right next to Hello Arigato. The cafe has a cosy, homely vibe with a distinct nostalgic charm, tucked into a quiet residential estate built in 1965.

The space itself is small, with limited seating and a central standing counter, making it more of a drink-and-go coffee bar than a place to linger. Even so, the moment you step inside, the friendly staff welcome you warmly, ready to share recommendations and insights about their coffee. The attentive service was one of the highlights of my visit, adding to Nylon’s charm despite its compact size.

The coffee bar is a nine-minute walk from Outram Park MRT Station.
