You can try the popular Magic—Melbourne’s Secret ($6), a Melbournian special that combines double ristretto with steamed milk, making it slightly stronger than a cup of flat white. If this sounds intense and you’d like something sweet instead, there’s the Biscoff Latte ($6.50) or Purple Sweet Potato Latte ($6.50) for your consideration, best paired with their flaky Almond Croissant ($7).

Blue Bottle Coffee needs no introduction. The famous American coffee chain opened their first outlet at Raffles City in Singapore, followed by another at Paragon Shopping Centre. We tried a few of their drinks, and thought the Cold Brew ($7.50) was the best as it boasted a nutty, roasted flavour. Alternatively, the crowd-favourite NOLA AKA New Orleans-Style Iced Coffee ($8) is a must-try; here, the beans are brewed with roasted chicory and blended with cane sugar. Now, for the bakes, we recommend the Coconut Kouign-Amann ($8) or the outlet-exclusive Liege Waffles ($8.50), a delightfully buttery and fluffy treat that will surely fill you up.

Fan’s Cafe at Far East Plaza is for all shio pan fans—you can get salted bread from $3 in a variety of rotating flavours here. During our visit, we tried a total of three flavours, including Shiopan Original ($3), Hamu ($3.80), and Kohi Choco ($4). The latter was our favourite as there were specks of coffee grounds that added a rich depth of flavour to the otherwise chocolatey bread. We also paired the bakes with a cup of Matcha Latte (from $5.50) and Latte (from $5). If you like your matcha latte thick and strong, we recommend trying other drinks instead.

Baristart Coffee is a spacious cafe with an extensive menu at Wisma Atria. The Japan-based cafe has been around since 2015, and of the many items, their Hokkaido Cream Puff ($7++) is the most popular. The puff is packed with BIEI Jersey Milk custard cream, and many customers buy it in a box of three for $19.50++. If you’re looking to have a proper meal here, consider the Wafu Pasta ($19.80++) or Tonkatsu Sando ($18.80++). The former features prawns, bacon, asparagus, sliced garlic, chilli padi, Japanese dashi soy sauce, butter, nori, itokiri togarashi! Wash down the heavy flavours with a cup of Americano ($4.50++), since the cafe is best known for serving good coffee in Orchard Road.

Ami Patisserie is a French-Japanese dessert cafe in Orchard Road helmed by a Japanese chef with culinary experiences at two Michelin-starred restaurants. Be ready to splurge here if you’re indulging in their dessert omakase experience! The a la carte menu changes from time to time, but the Smoked Caramel Coffee Choux ($11++) remains a steady seller, featuring a crisp puff loaded with cream infused with their house-roasted coffee blend. There’s also the Tahitian Vanilla Choux ($11++), a seemingly simple pastry packed with a vanilla custard centre that comes with a fun twist—the cream is spiked with Jamaican rum and Indonesian vanilla bean.

If you’re headed to Wisma Atria anytime soon, visit The Awfully Chocolate Experience Cafe, where you’ll find Singapore’s first-ever chocolate raclette wheel. This is similar to a raclette cheese wheel, but you get melted chocolate scraped off and drizzled atop your dessert plates instead of cheese. Our favourite dessert to pair with the melted chocolate was Pisang Pisang ($15++), starring a dense banana cake with a layer of spiced apple filling, then finished with crispy goreng pisang nuggets and toasted walnuts. While you’re there, also give the Chocolate Muah Chee (15++) a try, which spotlights melt-in-the-mouth chocolate warabimochi with a side of peanut powder and chocolate sauce.

We’ve been to plenty of bagel cafes in Singapore, and out of the lot, Pancakes And Friends is second to none for its wallet-friendly prices. We enjoyed their Chocolate Banana ($12) bagel, smeared with a chocolate hazelnut spread, sliced bananas, icing sugar, and cocoa powder. If you’re not a big fan of bagels, order their Hokkaido Milk Pancake ($12) instead; you get a house-made milk cream and muesli bits atop a fluffy souffle pancake, alongside a scoop of Hokkaido milk gelato.

Lucine by LUNA is a cafe launched by LUNA, a patisserie renowned for their exquisite cakes and pastries. Located at 111 Somerset, this Orchard Road cafe has gorgeous tarts and petite cakes in over 10 varieties. The Tofu ($8.50++) is an interesting one, featuring a cake made with silken tofu cream, hazelnut ganache, buckwheat-infused mousse, and a sable biscuit. If you’re all about matcha, go straight for the Matcha Opera ($9.50++) instead. It’s essentially a Niko Neko matcha sponge packed with earthy ganache, mousse, and chantilly cream all in matcha flavour.

At their ION Orchard branch, Cafe Nesuto serves a full-fledged hot food menu alongside their standard desserts, such as Nesuto Scrambled Egg Rice with Bacon ($25++), which features bacon slices on a bed of fluffy scrambled eggs and rice. We would definitely recommend their Matcha Red Bean Cake ($12++), an ION Orchard-exclusive dessert that’s not too sweet, and their Iced Kyoto Uji Matcha Latte ($9++) to wash it all down.
