After some renovation work, Tampines 1’s basement has reopened with a slew of exciting kiosks, including the famous Mister Donut! The popular Japanese chain is most famous for their Pon De Ring ($2.30) doughnut, made with tapioca flour for a mochi-like texture. Get these in flavours such as Chocolate ($2.50) and Strawberry ($2.50). Alternatively, get their Chocolate Fashion ($2.50), starring a cookie-like doughnut with chocolate glaze on one end.

2. S.O.S ChickenÂ
Get your protein fix at S.O.S Chicken, a relatively new addition to Tampines 1. The restaurant specialises in charcoal-grilled chicken, where each bird is brined for over 12 hours, then slow-roasted over charcoal before it reaches your table. We recommend the Half Chicken ($13.50++)Â for solo diners, and the Whole Chicken ($25.50++) if you’re sharing. Pair your meat with their wide range of sauces at $2++ each, including Mushroom Cream, Sambal Ijo, Butter Chicken, and Spicy Mala.

Cult favourite coffee chain Luckin Coffee has an outlet in Tampines 1, so you can grab a caffeinated pick-me-up while you’re here. If you’re new to Luckin, download their app and get your first coffee at just $0.99! Otherwise, the brand frequently rolls out discount vouchers for regular app members too. A must-try is their Coconut Latte ($8), where creamy and velvety coconut milk is paired with strong espresso. 4. FieldnotesÂ
Homegrown bakery fieldnotes has also recently opened a takeaway-only shop in Basement 1 of the mall. They’re popular for their range of cakes and tarts, specifically the Honey Yuzu Slice ($9.27) and Mango Yuzu Slice ($9.27), both light enough for breakfast or tea break. There’s also the Strawberry Yuzu Tart ($9.70), which comprises a sweet and buttery tart base with vanilla chiffon, strawberry cream, and tangy yuzu curd, finished with fresh strawberries.

5. Wanpo Tea ShopÂ
Bubble tea fans, take note: Wanpo Tea Shop, a popular bubble tea shop from Taiwan, has set up shop in Tampines 1. A best-seller is the Custard Boba Milk Tea ($5.90), where milk tea is combined with smooth custard cream and pearls for a pleasant mix of textures. 6. Haruyama Udon
For fresh and affordable udon in the East, look no further than Haruyama Udon, tucked away in the basement of Tampines 1. They offer the TikTok-viral Tenzaru ($16++), where cold Himokawa udon sheets come with two dipping sauces and a side of tempura. We preferred the Spicy Basil Chicken ($16++) instead, which came with springy Hoto udon and minced chicken spiked with Thai basil, topped with an onsen egg. Otherwise, those who love dry noodles can consider the Ebi Yaki Udon ($16++), featuring stir-fried Sanuki udon.

7. 108 Matcha SaroÂ
You can get your warabimochi cravings sorted at 108 Matcha Saro, a popular dessert chain from Hokkaido that first opened at Suntec City in 2019. Their Matcha Warabimochi ($14.20), prepared with Uji matcha powder, is a must-try. Alternatively, the mixed box of Kinako and Matcha Warabimochi ($15.20)Â is a great alternative for sharing.
This Tampines outlet has dine-in seating too, with a whole slew of savoury mains such as Black Truffle Carbonara ($11.80++), along with dessert parfaits and pancakes.

ICYMI: Jamba has launched a kiosk at Level 2 of the mall! The American smoothie brand first arrived on our shores at Changi Airport Terminal 1 in July 2023, before opening a second outlet at Wisma Atria. Popular picks include Caribbean Passion (from $7.90), where passionfruit-mango juice is blended with orange sherbet, strawberry, and peach. Their signature Mango-A-Go-Go (from $7.90), featuring pineapple sherbet and mango, is another must-try. New in: Hawkers’ Street has opened at Tampines 1! The sprawling food court is home to famous hawker names, including Michelin Bib Gourmand stall Tai Wah Pork Noodle, which sells popular Pork Noodle (from $5) AKA bak chor mee. There’s also Koung’s Wan Tan Mee, offering their Dry Wanton Mee ($5.90): springy egg noodles tossed in a chilli sauce and lard mix, topped with char siew. Chicken rice fans can also visit Michelin-approved Tiong Bahru Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice for their Duo Chicken Rice Set ($8.50), which comprises fragrant chicken rice, white and roasted chicken, and bok choy.
