Wen Kang Ji: Famous Wonton Mee Stall Opens In Jurong East With Outlet-Exclusive Nasi Lemask Sushi

17th March 2023

Wen Kang Ji opens in Jurong East with outlet-exclusive dishes

Westies, if you’re a Wen Kang Ji lover, the popular wonton noodle specialist is now open in your part of town! Just less than a week old, their latest outlet has officially started business in Jurong East, so you can get your fill of their XXL wonton mee and excellent char siew without travelling to Lavender or Joo Chiat.

That’s not allโ€”Westies are in for the best deal of the lot, with Wen Kang Ji’s Jurong East outlet introducing a number of outlet-exclusive menu items on top of their famous wonton mee. This branch is also the most comfortable of the dining experiences you’ll get across the island: it’s in a standalone shop space with cushioned chairs and sofas both indoors and out.

If you’ve never had the Wanton Noodles ($6.80) at Wen Kang Ji, they come with house-made wonton, char siew, and lots of crispy lard. There’s also Jumbo Wanton Noodles ($8.80), AKA an upsized, XXL version of the dish.

The char siew here stands out from the generic ones served with other wonton noodles primarily because they only use pork armpitโ€”a particularly precious cut of meat that’s laced beautifully with fat, and roasts to a melting finish.

New on the menu is Nasi Lemak Sushi ($3), a curious creation that sees a gunkan of yellow-coloured rice, topped with a char-grilled piece of meat.

There are other snacking plates they’ve come up with too, such as Roast Pork Belly ($10), which you could have as a Roast Pork Belly Rice ($6.80) too.

They’ve also veered away from the dumplings and noodles they gained fame for, branching out to include Prawn Noodles (price TBD), and Big Prawn Noodles ($15/$18/$20).

If that wasn’t enough, the Jurong East outlet of Wen Kang Ji also features fish on the menu! There’s Grouper Fish (Red) Bean Sauce Style ($15/$20), which also comes in Teochew soupy versions, with rice on the side.

While you’re in Jurong, consider Fei Fei Roasted Noodle, another roast meat and wonton noodle stall that’s Michelin-approved, and often sells out before noon! Otherwise, check out Joo Heng Noodle in Toa Payoh, which serves their wonton noodles with jade-green spinach noodles.
