When we covered YY Kafei Dian in our best kopi stalls in Singapore roundup, we were impressed by their well-balanced Hainanese-style coffee. This old-school eatery along Beach Road is a popular destination for both tourists and locals alike, as they sell a wide range of classic Singaporean fare and beverages.

A must-try here is their Kaya Bun ($1.60), which stars house-made buns that are toasted, and slathered with a sweet and creamy kaya spread. In between the light and fluffy buns is a thick slab of cold butter that contrasts nicely with the warm toast.

Dunk each slice into the perfectly runny Half Boiled Eggs ($1.50) for the ultimate breakfast experience.

Drinks-wise, we found the kopi here to be smooth and easy to drink, without too much acidity. Get their Kopi Bing ($1.90) to cool down from the afternoon heat, and remember to request for siew dai if you prefer your brew less sweet.

Alternatively, a best-seller is their hot Kopi C ($1.70), where the caramelly notes of the coffee are the most prominent.

If you’re still feeling peckish, you can fill up on the carbs in the form of steamed or roasted Chicken Rice ($4.50). YY Kafei Dian also offers a wide selection of zi char mains, including Beef Hor Fun with Gravy ($6), Pork Chop Rice ($5.50), and Yang Zhou Fried Rice ($5).
