Anyone who knows me would know just how much I love my coffee. One of my go-to spots for a good strong brew is Butler Koffee, an under-the-radar cafe that recently moved to its very own space. Previously operating out of Asian-Western restaurant Beng Who Cooks, the cosy cafe has now found an official home in Havelock 2, a short walk away from Chinatown MRT Station

The cafe’s Chinese name, 咖啡罢了 (ka fei ba le), is a pun on “butler”, and translates to “only coffee”. Started by Alicia Yap, Butler Koffee originated as a passion project since her days as a barista when she was studying in the UK.

The new space is cosy and well-lit, with aesthetically pleasing pastel pink and dark blue chairs contrasting against the off-white walls. You can also sit by the counter if you enjoy watching the baristas at work!

Latte Art

Try their signature White ($5), which is their house latte. The beans featured here are sourced from Columbia and roasted by Alchemist, a stalwart in the local coffee scene. Tea options such as the Maple Vanilla Green Tea ($7) and Elder and Cream Black Tea ($7) are also available in pots and are refillable.

For a light snack, Butler Koffee offers a selection of freshly prepared Toasties, casually referred to as Kiap. There’s the Double Cheese Toasties with Honey ($9) if you like the sweet-savoury combination, or the Banana with Nutella & Chocolate Chips Toasties ($9) for something more dessert-like. All sandwiches are served with a side of chips.

Keong Saik Bakery - burnt cheesecake

Those who love their sweet treats can look forward to bakes from Keong Saik Bakery, including Burnt Cheesecake ($8) and Matcha Swissroll ($7.80).

A visit to Butler Koffee isn’t complete without a taste of their strong Cold Brew ($8 for one, $37.50 for five). Get the signature White, a full-bodied brew with fragrant notes of cocoa, combined with the perfect amount of milk for creaminess. You can also have them delivered at $15, or spend $65 to enjoy free delivery.

If you’d like to have a pop-up coffee cart for your event or wedding, contact Butler Koffee! They also run various coffee-related workshops such as Latte Art, perfect for caffeine addicts like myself.
