This is topped with grated radish and a raw Japanese egg yolk for added creaminess, along with a side of Homemade Tamago Soup.
Otherwise, if you’re out to splurge, treat yourself to the Truffle Omuburg Teishoku ($19.80). Served on a hotplate, this main comes with a creamy omelette on paired with a pork hamburg steak, finished with a generous dollop of truffle cream.

2. Soup Cup
For a fuss-free meal that doesn’t sacrifice on flavour, check out Soup Cup, a six-minute walk from Raffles Place MRT Station. Started by an ex-MasterChef Singapore finalist, this kiosk specialises in fish soup that’s pakced with flavour, sans MSG.
Their Signature Seafood Soup ($13) is loaded with liao, namely grouper slices, clams, pork, prawns, and squid. During our visit, we found the broth slightly sweet with a rich umami taste, thanks to the eight hours of slow cooking.
If you’re not feeling that peckish, they also offer a Piccolo ($4)Â size that’s served in a cute coffee cup!

A mere three minutes by foot from Raffles Place MRT Station is Market Street Hawker Centre, which houses plenty of affordable and delicious eats. One such is Golden Nur, a family-run stall known for their Crispy Chicken Biryani ($6.50).
Only served during lunch, each portion gets you a deep-fried chicken leg that’s well-marinated, boasting a crispy crust and tender meat. This is paired with fluffy basmati rice that’s cooked with a variety of aromatics, and a bowl of curry on the side for you to enjoy.

For mains, choose the House-Made Raviolini, cooked with a hazenut butter sauce and topped with fried sage. Otherwise, go light with a fish instead; the Sea Bass ‘A La Plancha’, served with ratatouille and roasted shimeji mushrooms, is an excellent option.

10. Project Acai
Acai fans would be familiar with this next entry. Project Acai, which has been around since 2015, has many outlets across Singapore, including one at Lau Pa Sat. The medium Original Flower Bowl ($9.90)Â is ideal for days you don’t want an overly filling lunch, or if you’re in the mood for a pick-me-up during office hours.
We visited the CBD outlet during our hunt for the best acai bowls in Singapore, but sadly, found Project Acai’s base rather icy and grainy. Nonetheless, the flavour of the acai was delicious, as with the granola topping!

15. SouperstarÂ
Soup might be in their name, but the real stars in Souperstar are actually the healthy fusion popiah. Building from their family popiah business, the sister-owners started out Souperstar selling popiah wraps and soups, branching to salads and sandwiches later on.
The popiah wraps are handmade fresh daily, and come in a variety of flavours with the Sesame Chicken ($5.20) as the darling of the bunch. If you’re going low-carb, opt for salads or hearty soups such as Creamy Tomato Basil and Souper Shroomy. The soups come in three sizes: Small ($4.50), Medium ($5.90), and Large ($7.80). But mind you, all the soups are quite indulgent—not the best for a diet.

For filling Indonesian fare at hawker prices, head to Gado & Grill. They have a small branch at One Raffles Place with a simple menu of only six dishes including Gado Gado ($6.20+) and Ayam Penyet ($7.20+). Their GadoMie ($6.50+) is their most popular dish featuring Indomie-style noodles served with gado gado staples: meat, a sunny side egg, prawn chips and greens. For an extra $2, you can make this into a meal with a choice of Teh Botol or Honey Lime Juice. There’s no service charge if you decide to eat in, but there are only a few seats at the outlet, so it’s best to get takeaway.Â
