Ang Moh Zi Char has rosti and Portuguese rice in Jurong West

Yes, you read that right. Ang Moh Zi Char is a hawker stall in Taman Jurong Food Centre that appears to call itself a zi char place, but actually serves Western fusion dishes instead.

The stall was started by the husband and wife duo behind Butternut, the halal thin-crust pizza stall in the same hawker centre. With Ang Moh Zi Char, they’ve expanded their repertoire to dishes such as rosti, Portuguese rice, and a variety of grilled meats.

A plate of Swiss Inspired Rosti here goes for $6. Should you find the crispy potato pancakes alone not substantial enough, you can top up $3 to add grilled beef, chicken chop, salmon, or “premium” mushrooms to your order.

The Portuguese Flavoured Rice will also set you back $6. This cost, however, comes with the aforementioned add-ons included—this means you can have Portuguese rice with chicken chop, salmon and so on.

There’s also an assortment of sharing dishes that all go for $12. The most interesting of these is the Korean Oppa Beef, which seems to be the stall’s take on bulgogi beef. Aside from this, you’ve got the Balinese Chicken Chop, Swedish Dill Baked Salmon, and European Button and Holland Portobello Mushrooms.
