The last I heard of square-shaped desserts was the square doughnuts at Caffe Pralet, so you can imagine my excitement when I came across a square egg tart in the form of a scone at Finally Coffee. This hidden cafe, located on the second floor along a row of eateries, is a quick four-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station.

Finally Coffee is the perfect day-to-evening destination for a good cup of joe alongside a yummy selection of sweet and savoury treats. Everything here costs under $8.50 and prices are nett! The adorably named Eggsy Squone ($5) was what caught my attention first. This is essentially a square scone with an egg tart filling.

The winning combination of a sweet creamy egg custard and a crumbly crust was a huge hit—this treat was incredibly delicious, and I liked that there was a hint of vanilla in the filling.

Their gorgeous Earl Grey Cake ($8.50) was a close runner-up as I really enjoyed the strong notes of Earl Grey in this one. The batter was firmer than a spongy chiffon, which I personally didn’t mind.

We also got Dirty Matcha ($8/$8.50) and Hazelnut Latte ($6.50/$7) to pair with our tea-time treats. For non-caffeinated options, you can consider getting the popular Caramel Choc ($6.50/$7) or Matcha Latte ($7/$7.50).

We ended with their Cinnamon Roll ($4.50) which features a butter-sugar glaze on the outside, and a soft and fluffy dough within.

Unlike some cinnamon rolls that come topped with a gooey cream cheese frosting, the cinnamon roll here was much simpler, which turned out to be my cup of tea. There are also the classic Croissant ($4) and the more unique Cheddar Cheese & Herb Roll ($5.50) if you prefer savoury to sweet pastries.

Cosy and minimalist are two words that come to mind when I think of Finally Coffee. Given the compact space, the cafe can seat about 20 customers at once. It was nice seeing both locals and tourists alike sipping their coffee while taking the day slow amid a hectic weekday.

For easy access, Finally Coffee is situated between Zam Zam Restaurant and A-Mor Turkish Kebab. Climb up a flight of stairs, and you’ll see the cafe on your left!
