Five Oars Coffee Roasters Heritage at Tanjong Pagar
For those of us who have sorely missed Five Oars Coffee Roasters at Tanjong Pagar, I have some good news for you: the cafe is reopening in the area it started, but with a swanky new aesthetic and name: Five Oars Coffee Roasters Heritage.
Five Oars Coffee Roasters Review: Creme Brulee French Toast, Mentaiko Mac And Cheese And More
Sure, not a whole lot has changed with that name, but one could say it’s indicative of the cafe’s desire to bring back past fan-favourites.
There’s still the Creme Brulee French Toast ($20++), which was our favourite dish when we dined at the cafe’s previous incarnation. Crafted with house-made brioche, creme brulee, mixed berries, popcorn, and vanilla ice cream, this sweet dish is the definition of decadent. For more of the sugary stuff, the Five Oars Waffles ($18++) and Sticky Date Pancake ($18++) are decent shouts as well.

For brunch options, you won’t go wrong with Avocado & Eggs ($18++), featuring house-made sourdough, poached eggs, avocado, guacamole, dukkah, and ricotta. If you’re coming after 6pm, then you can get great dinner options such as Black Angus Sirloin ($32++) and Seafood Paella ($45++ for 2-3 pax).

Don’t forget to get some coffee with your food, as well. Regardless of whether you get an Espresso ($3++) or Mocha (from $6++), know that the coffee is always freshly roasted.

When the sun goes down, Night Hawk opens its doors inside Five Oars Coffee Roasters Heritage. The bar is inspired by painter Edward Hopper’s best-known work, Nighthawks, and like the painting itself, the place is brimming with quiet beauty and melancholy—the perfect place for drinks on a moody Saturday.
