Northern Thai Tomyam is a popular tom yum stall in Berseh Food Centre
@mrjuliuslim MUST TRY CREAMY TOM YUM 🤤 Northern Thai is a hidden gem located in the Berseh Food Centre, selling a limited selection of dishes. The one dish that the stall is known for is the creamy tom yum that is prepared upon order. Comes with sliced fish, fried fish and prawn, the star of the show is definitely the tom yum broth that has the perfect balance of spiciness and tanginess. Pair with a bowl of rice and you are set for a fulfilling meal. #FoodFestOnTikTok #sgfoodie #comfortfood #wheretoeat #tomyumsoup #supportlocal
Thai food is aplenty in Singapore, but for those in the know, Northern Thai Tomyam in Berseh Food Centre is the place to visit for what many claim to be the best tom yum soup in town. The stall is also helmed by a native Thai chef!
There are three options on the menu here: N.T. Tom Yum ($5), Clear Tom Yum ($5), and Clear Tom Yum with Noodle ($5.50), but the most popular is N.T. Tom Yum, which is a creamy version of the Thai hot and sour soup. They’re only open for a few hours each day from 10:30am till they’re sold out, which is often before the stated 3:30pm on their storefront. You can expect to see long queues, too.

Truth be told, the traditional tom yum soup is a clear broth, while the creamy version that we know and love today is a newer iteration known as tom yum nam khon, zhnged up with coconut cream or evaporated milk.

While N.T. Tom Yum definitely belongs to the latter camp, it’s said to also be made according to a Northern Thai style, thus the name of the stall, though it’s been tweaked to suit local palates.

Each bowl comes with lots of ingredients, including fresh, marinated mackerel slices, super shiok fried fish chunks—which they very kindly pack separately for you when you order for takeaway—tofu, tomatoes, prawn, as well as fresh kaffir lime leaves and slices of red onion.

Although the creamy tom yum is their bestseller, the clear version isn’t shabby either, with fans praising its hearty, well-balanced sour-spicy notes.
Another super popular stall at this food centre is Mei Xiang Black & White Fish Soup, otherwise Sum Dim Sum is just across the road!
