Best Tanglin Mall food places

The sky’s the limit when it comes to food options in town: we have a comprehensive compilation of Orchard food gems, as well as food recommendations for Lucky Plaza and 313 Somerset. Adding to this list is our guide to the best eats at Tanglin Mall, within spitting distance of Orchard Boulevard MRT Station.

1. Poke Theory

Tanglin-Mall-Food-poke-theory

At Poke Theory, it’s all about hearty and healthy bowls of rice topped with your choice of raw fish, veggies, and sauces. The menu can be a tad daunting with so many options to choose from, and so if you can’t make up your mind, we recommend the O.G. Salmon ($15.90). This vibrant bowl comes with all things delicious: think fresh salmon, corn salsa, cherry tomatoes, carrots, wakame seaweed, pickled onions, ramen egg and more atop a bed of sushi rice. We also love the Tempeh-Tress ($15.90), a vegan-friendly bowl with umami tempeh pieces as the hero ingredient.

2. Heavenly Wang

Tanglin-Mall-Food-heavenly-wang

Heavenly Wang has been around since 1953, and they currently have more than 20 outlets islandwide. Since they are best known for their kaya toast, it’s a must to get their Kaya Butter Set ($6): you get four thin slices of crispy toast packed with rich kaya and thick squares of butter, accompanied by two soft-boiled eggs and a large cup of kopi. Back when we visited the chain, we found the soft-boiled eggs well-executed with a smooth, custardy consistency. If you’d like to know more about the best kaya franchise in Singapore, read our article!

3. B For Bagel

Tanglin-Mall-Food-b-for-bagel

For a midday pick-me-up, drop by B For Bagel at the basement of the mall for a lovely variety of Korean bagel sandwiches. During our visit, the Smoked Salmon ($16.90+) was a collective favourite as the combination of smoked salmon, dill, spring onions, tomato, and onions was incredibly moreish. For the classic bacon and egg pairing, there’s the Bacon Cheese Omelette ($15.90+) comprising cheddar cheese, egg, bacon, dill yoghurt sauce, and finished with maple syrup. Don’t forget to get a cup of Einspanner (from $6.50)—this lesser-seen drink comes with espresso topped with sweet cream!

4. Market Blue

Tanglin-Mall-Food-market-blue

Many already know of Market Blue, a multi-concept lifestyle store with a kopitiam within its premise. During our latest visit, we tried their newest Cheese Dak Galbi ($38.80++). This was served in a huge flat pan, which was filled with spicy stir-fried chicken cooked, cabbage, chewy rice cakes, and a good amount of mozzarella cheese. Spice wimps can rest assured as the spice level was bearable! If you still find it spicy, though, get the Soybean Stew ($9.90++) to quell the heat. The price is worth for the generous ingredients you get, including pork slices, tofu chunks, sliced leek, and ground sesame seeds.

5. Little Farms Table

When we think of Little Farms, the first thing that comes to mind are well-plated, curated dishes made with fresh produce. Their Avocado Smash on Sourdough ($21++) is a good reflection of this sentiment—expect a house-baked sourdough slice topped with smashed avocados and poached eggs. Though simple in appearance, you get good quality ingredients that justify the steep price. If you prefer some meat in your meal, their Grass-Fed Beef Burger ($25++) is a popular choice: a juicy, tender beef patty is stacked with onions, lettuce, tomato, cheddar, pickles, and creamy Russian dressing. The burger also comes with a side of fries!

Unit number: #02-138
Opening hours: Sun-Thurs 7:30am to 9:30pm, Fri-Sat 7:30am to 10pm

Cedele Bakery has been around since 1997, and they boast over 20 outlets across the country today, including one at Tanglin Mall. A must-try while you’re there is the Carrot Walnut Cake Slice ($9.50), a delectable combination of fluffy carrot cake with velvety smooth cream cheese frosting and chunky raw walnuts. If you prefer something savoury, go for the BLT Sandwich ($10.50) instead; you get a huge halved sandwich packed with crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, mustard, and mayo.

7.  Kei Kaisendon

This one’s for fans of Japanese fare: Kei Kaisendon serves up affordable Japanese rice bowls topped with fresh sashimi. Their Kei Signature (from $14.90++) is known as the crowd favourite. This bowl comes in three sizes, small, regular, and large. For something more filling, we recommend making your rice bowl a set with four different add-on options to choose from. There’s Set E ($4.90++), which comes with edamame and green tea. For the same price, opt for Set F, comprising sesame tofu and a cup of green tea! If you’re in the mood to spend a little more, Set G ($5.90++) is great as you get seafood chawanmushi alongside green tea.

8. SARAI

Save SARAI in your list of must-visit restaurants for corporate meals if you work in the area. From starters and soups to mains and desserts, this Thai restaurant sees an extensive menu that surely has something for every diner. Begin your meal with the Tod Mun Pla Gub Lobster ($28++), starring four pieces of Maine lobster covered in fish paste, and served with long beans and red curry paste. For the mains, you can’t go wrong with the signature Pad Pak Maeo Moo Grob ($34++), consisting of roasted pork and stir-fried chayote sprouts, and Pad Graprow Gai ($26++) that’s essentially stir-fried minced chicken with garlic, chilies, sweet peas, and basil.

Kebabs Factory is the perfect pit stop for those running tight on time and would prefer to have something on the go. Here, they serve up wraps, daily bowls, and salads—you know the drill. If burritos are your thing, we recommend the Chicken Tikka Burrito (from $8.90) for a flavourful combination of veggies and chicken tikka. FYI, you get nine different ingredients in a single burrito: tortilla, black beans, salsa, cheese, harissa mayo and more. Else, their Falafel Salad Box ($9.90) and Chicken Grain Bowl ($9.50) are hearty, hassle-free options that will keep you filled!

10. Pano Kato

For pastas and pizzas, Pano Kato is one for the books. Something unique here is that you can opt for a gluten-free pizza base with an additional $4++, where brown rice flour is used instead of the usual all-purpose white flour. Speaking of pizzas, their Pano Kato ($30++) is highly recommended among the patrons. The ingredients in this are simple, yet of quality. It stars a tomato base pizza generously topped with spinach, feta, red onion, capsicum, and black olives. Pair this with the Classic Bolognese Pasta ($28++), which features minced Wagyu beef, onions, fresh tomato sauce, garlic, and herbs.
