Maybe it’s the idea that a cafe is located under someone’s home, but there’s something warm and intimate about HDB cafes. The Social Space in Potong Pasir is the latest addition to the list—this minimalist cafe is the third branch to open after two successful launches in Bugis and Chinatown

Both indoor and outdoor seats are available according to what you feel for the day. The alfresco area is great on a breezy day, while you can enjoy the Bali-esque interiors accented with lots of warm tones indoors.

Open-faced toasts sell like hotcakes here, especially because customers can choose from eight different flavours. One of the more uncommon ones is the Roasted Eggplant and Miso Dressing, which comprises a sourdough bread slice topped with cherry tomatoes and roasted eggplant, then drizzled with olive oil and miso dressing. A single slice costs $10+, while a double is priced at $18+.

For something more filling, we recommend the TSS Big Breakfast ($28+), which gives you the freedom to choose three sides alongside a slice of sourdough toast, two hard-boiled eggs, and mesclun salad. Take your time to pick three out of eight ingredients, including the popular Mashed Avocado, Smoked Salmon, and Roasted Mushrooms

Else, their smoothie bowl is a great brunch option for the hot and humid weather these days. The Pink Flamingo ($13+) features a smooth blend of banana, papaya, red dragonfruit, and soy milk. The bowl is then decorated with a pretty mix of seasonal fruits, honey, granola, and coconut flakes.
