Valentine’s Day Dining Guide: 10 Places To Take Bae For A Romantic Meal

14th February 2024

Valentine’s Day 2024 dining guide

Valentine’s Day is a double-edged sword: it’s an exciting day for lovebirds, while it’s just another day of the year for singletons. If you fall into the former category and want to impress your significant other with a memorable meal, or you simply want to surprise your girls with a special #Galentine’s, our 2024 Valentine’s Day dining guide will be useful. These romantic restaurants are great for post-V Day, too!

1. Restaurant Air

Newly opened on 31 January 2024, Restaurant Air is a beautiful restaurant helmed by two celebrity chefs. Here, you can indulge in a wallet-friendly sustainable dining experience amid the lush greenery in Dempsey—the ambience alone already sounds perfect for a romantic night out with your loved one.

You can expect the food here to be of excellent quality, as proven by The Whole Coral Grouper for Two ($58++): this main comprises line-caught coral grouper delivered to the restaurant every morning. We also recommend the Crispy Oyster Mushrooms ($28++), which features oyster mushrooms coated in a flour-spice mix and buttermilk, then topped with Thai basil leaves straight from the restaurant’s garden.

2. D’RIM Korean Steak House

Valentine's-Day-guide-drim-korean-steak-house (5)

Boasting a lovely mix of both traditional and modern interiors is D’RIM Korean Steak House, a new fancy restaurant in Mandarin Gallery. The premium K-BBQ experience here is what they are most proud of, with amicable staff grilling meats by your tableside so that you don’t have to lift a finger.

Since it’s a special occasion, go big with their D’RIM Beef Cuts ($125++ per person). This set comprises sirloin steak, marinated short rib, chuck flap, kimchi, vegetables, and soybean tofu stew. Our favourite was the marinated short ribs as they were the juiciest of the lot! The D’RIM Signature Noodle (from $26++) is another must-get. We really enjoyed the buckwheat noodles drenched in a special sauce made out of perilla seeds, and thought this dish was a rare find in Singapore.

Lest you get overwhelmed, we recommend starting with their Pancake Parlour Classic Stack ($22++). This beautifully plated pancake comes topped with whipped butter and vanilla creme Chantilly, and a small jug of maple syrup on the side. For something more unique, there’s the Matcha Udon ($26++) that’s made using a white wine matcha cream sauce. You also get chunks of smoked pork belly as the finishing touch!

Valentine's-Day-guide-the-feather-blade-steakhouse (18)

Steakhouse is one of the safest choices to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and The Feather Blade Steakhouse & Seafood Bar is one for the books. The latest outlet at East Coast Road offers steak, seafood and more, so there’s bound to be something for everyone here.

Valentine's-Day-guide-the-feather-blade-steakhouse-flatlay (21)

For fresh seafood, opt for their oysters which come in three flavours! Served in a pair, the Salsa Taquera ($8.80++) is great for a mouthful of spicy and tangy flavours. Here’s a tip: place your orders before 7pm to enjoy a happy shucking hour. Else, we recommend their Swordfish Sando ($32++), which gives you a winning combination of a meaty swordfish belly patty, smoked katsu sauce, and soft Japanese milk bread. We can’t forget about steak—there’s the popular Feather Blade ($24++), a 200g steak with hints of sweet-smoky flavour.

Valentine's-Day-guide-home-singapore-clarke-quay-ambience (11)

Home Singapore is a day-to-night destination in Clarke Quay for a picture-perfect brunch date, as well as a fun night with performances held by live bands and DJs. It’s housed on the second floor, which means you can get an unobstructed view of the Singapore River here.

Valentine's-Day-guide-home-singapore-clarke-quay (13)

During the day, their Pain Perdu ($16++) AKA French toast rub shoulders with classic brunch options such as Bacon and Mushroom Benedict ($18++). For the former, you get a gorgeous slice of toast adorned with a vibrant combination of fruits and edible flowers, while the latter gives you a nice layer of bacon, spinach, and button mushrooms. When night falls, the Wagyu Beef Steak Rendang ($45++) paired with a house-made rendang sauce is best accompanied by their cocktails ($22++) in a range of flavours, including Sour Plum and White Choc Milkshake.

6. Moss Cross Tokyo

Valentine's-Day-guide-moss-cross-tokyo (2)

Omakase experiences don’t always have to be rigid and formal. At Moss Cross Tokyo, shokado omakase is a thing—to the layman, this means you can enjoy a series of high-quality Japanese food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Valentine's-Day-guide-moss-cross-tokyo-omakase (4)

To try a bit of everything, we recommend their Wakon-Yosai ($150++) experience. You’re served nine small bites in a traditional Japanese-style bento box, followed by five other courses along with desserts. From the fancy Hyogo Oyster with Camembert, Caviar, Konbu to the hearty Hokkaido Tokachi Herb-fed Beef Cutlet, Homemade Worchester Sauce, there’s really not much to complain about the unique omakase experience.

7. SODENG Korean Restaurant

Valentine's-Day-guide-sodeng-korean-restaurant (17)

SODENG Korean Restaurant has the first duck K-BBQ in Singapore. What makes their offerings so unique is that meat is cooked on a gamasot, AKA an ancient cooking vessel traditionally used in Korea.

Valentine's-Day-guide-sodeng-korean-restaurant (1)

Since they specialise in duck meat, you’d be remiss not to go for their Roasted Duck ($34++), which is essentially pieces of boneless duck meat grilled and charred to perfection. If this is your first time trying duck K-BBQ, don’t worry as there’s little to no gaminess. After you’re done trying the duck meat, get their Woo-Dae Galbi ($42++) for melt-in-your-mouth marinated prime ribs.

8. Song Yue Taiwan Cuisine

Valentine's-Day-guide-restaurant-air (8)

This one’s for fans of Taiwanese food: Song Yue Taiwanese Cuisine is a new restaurant in Leisure Park Kallang that goes beyond your usual braised pork rice and oyster mee sua offerings.

Valentine's-Day-guide-song-yue-taiwan-cuisine (7)

Their Pickled Cherry Tomatoes with Sour Plums ($8.90++) or Winter Melon Pickled with Fresh Passion Fruit ($8.90++) is a refreshing start to your meal, especially in Singapore’s hot weather. Then, dig into the Farm Chicken with Spring Onion ($18.90++/$33.90++) that stars tender chicken topped with a huge pile of spring onion. We recommend pairing this with the oh-so-delicious Ah Ma’s Rice Vermicelli and Taro Soup ($19.90++/$32.90++). This dish sees a variety of tasty ingredients submerged in a robust pork bone broth: lala, pork belly, shiitake mushrooms, and sweet taro chunks.

Valentine's-Day-guide-sen-ryo (6)

Start your meal with the sen-ryo Appetiser Platter ($26.80++) consisting of a tender, juicy Wagyu Sando, and a fleshy, briny Hyogo Oyster with Ikura. Then, move on to their wide selection of sashimi platters, including the affordably priced Premium Sashimi Platter ($26.20++), and even a Deluxe Sashimi Platter ($39.80++) that’s perfect for two.

If you’re around CHIJMES this Valentine’s Day, consider heading to Honbo! This popular burger chain from Hong Kong checks off all the boxes of what you might be looking for: a vibey space, a central location, and affordable offerings.

Valentine's-Day-guide-honbo-burger (19)

It’s a must to get their signature Honbo Burger ($18++), which features crispy and juicy beef patties, melted cheese, house pickles, and a layer of house sauce sandwiched between potato milk buns. If you love bacon in your burger, opt for The Gold Standard ($28++) instead. This also comes with thicker beef patties, crisp iceberg lettuce, and a house sauce made with a secret Asian ingredient.
